Louisville Cardinals vs. Duke Blue Devils Prediction: Blue Devils Missing Kyle Filipowski

On Wednesday, the Louisville Cardinals will travel to Cameron Indoor Stadium to battle the Duke Blue Devils. Cameron Indoor is one of the most challenging home venues in the country, so it should be difficult for an inferior Louisville to find success.

Duke, the 10th ranked team in the nation, is 21-6 compared to Louisville at 8-19. On paper, this shouldn’t be a competitive matchup, but the Blue Devils are facing a lot of adversity. Their best player, Kyle Filipowski, won’t play because of a high ankle sprain he received during a Wake Forest court storming. Duke is still a much better team than Louisville without Filipowski, but his absence makes things much more difficult.

Here, we will break down Louisville vs. Duke and our best bets for the matchup.

Louisville Cardinals vs. Duke Blue Devils Prediction

Louisville vs. Duke Betting Odds for Wednesday, Feb. 28th

Duke is a hefty 19.5-point favorite on Wednesday against Louisville. Their moneyline is priced at -4500, which means you would have to bet $4500 just to win $100.

If you’re new to North Carolina sports betting and the bonuses sportsbooks offer, it’s important to remember to stay away from these vast moneylines. If you believe Louisville can win, their moneyline is +1600, so if you were to bet $10, you could get $170 ($160 from winning the bet and $10 from getting your wager back).

The total is 144.5, with the over and under-priced at -110.

Teams Spread Moneyline Total
Louisville Cardinals +19.5 (-115) +1600 Over 144.5 (-110)
Duke Blue Devils  -19.5 (-105) -4500 Under 144.5 (-110)

Louisville vs. Duke Prediction

The ESPN matchup predictor gives Duke a 98.7% chance to win at home on Wednesday. We have no doubt they will win this game, and they should for a -4500 moneyline price. Yet, we need to determine if they can win by 19.5 points, based on the FanDuel Sportsbook spread.

Duke is the third-best team in the ACC against the spread, with a 15-11-1 record. As a top-ten team, they have been dealt big numbers to cover all season and have answered the call.

Louisville is the fourth-worst team in the ACC against the spread, with a 12-14-1 record. They have been hefty underdogs all year and don’t have a profitable cover rate. Despite this, Duke needs secondary stars to step up and fill Filipowski’s void.

Sophomore center Kyle Filipowski scores 16.9 points per game with 8.2 boards and leads the team in both categories. Duke was upset at Wake Forest on Saturday, resulting in the Demon Deacon fans storming the court.

Filipowski was caught in the crossfire, and he rolled his ankle. Duke was a National Championship contender, and they still are, but they need Filipowski to return as soon as possible.

The Blue Devils will have trouble without the center, even though the FanDuel Sportsbook spread is 19.5 points. We believe Louisville has a solid chance to cover in this game with Filipowski’s absence.

Our numbers have Duke by 15 points without Filipowski on the floor, pending Louisville plays up to their standard. The Cardinals don’t have the most significant offense or defense, but if they can gain confidence early, they have a chance to compete.

Louisville has a young team, and when they start to believe they can be dangerous. They’re coming off a 22-point loss against Notre Dame, where they played their worst game possible, but we expect them to bounce back.

Louisville’s sophomore guard, Skyy Clark, can make plays all over the floor. He scores 13.3 points per game and was fantastic in the season's first meeting against the Blue Devils.

Clark had 13 points, four rebounds, five assists, and shot 40% from the field. Louisville will have a solid chance to cover if he can do this again. He made this happen in the season's first meeting between the ACC foes.

Duke prevailed by 14 points in the first game of the year on January 23rd. We expect a similar result on Wednesday.

Louisville vs. Duke Betting Pick

Duke is a talented basketball team, but they don’t have a ton of momentum coming into this game. We believe they will win, but asking them to win by 20 is a lot without their best player.

Louisville is a young team, playing with nothing to lose. If they can succeed early, as they did in the first meeting of the season against the Blue Devils, they should be within the 19.5 points margin.

Cameron Indoor Stadium is a hard place to play, but the Cardinals have been in challenging environments all season. They should be ready to attack the Cameron Crazies!
