NC State vs. Florida State: Wolfpack Head South to Hunt for a March Madness Bid

The North Carolina State Wolfpack will head to Seminole Country tonight as they look for a critical road win against Florida State.

The Wolfpack enter tonight’s game needing a win to keep their March Madness hopes alive. They took care of business against Boston College on Saturday for a crucial win, improving their record to 17-10. However, their next four games will come at Florida State, at #9 UNC, home against #10 Duke, and at Pitt. Florida State is the easiest game NC State has left, making it a must-win matchup.

Florida State started the season 11-6 but has lost seven of its last ten games. The run has ended their hopes for an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. While the team is playing poorly, winning in Tallahassee is always difficult, so they are favored. Even the worst Seminoles teams managed to pull off upsets against the ACC’s top teams at home, which the Wolfpack are not.

Below, we will break down everything you need for this ACC matchup and provide our predictions to help you bet confidently.

NC State vs. Florida State Betting Odds for Tuesday, Feb. 27

Tonight will be the first matchup of the season between these ACC rivals. Both have a victory over Boston College as their last win.

The Seminoles enter as a slight home favorite, thanks to their history of success at home over the years and the Wolfpacks’ inconsistency this season.

NC State Wolfpack +2.5 (-110) +116 Over 150.5 (-115)

NC State is 6-3 against the spread on the road this season, but they are 3-1-1 as an away underdog.

NC State vs. Florida State Predictions & Pick

On paper, the Wolfpack should be the obvious pick here. They have the motivation of still having a chance to make the postseason and possibly finishing in the top four heading into the ACC Tournament. They have had more impressive wins and have been better than FSU over the last couple of months.

All that said, we don’t trust either of these teams tonight. NC State has underperformed in games against teams below them in the standings, including in a crushing home loss to Syracuse last week. The way won back-to-back games just once since January 6, some of which were to mediocre teams like FSU.

The Seminoles are always an intriguing bet at home, but they have looked awful for over a month. Their hopes for an at-large bid are over, and they have been playing like it over the last few games.

Those concerns have us shifting our attention to the total. The stage is set for a high-scoring game. While both offenses score in the middle of the ACC, averaging 76 points per game, their defenses are a mess. NC State is ninth in the conference in opponent scoring (71.4 PPG), while FSU is twelfth (74.8 PPG).

Both teams are also terrible when defending the three, ranking thirteenth (NC State) and fourteenth in the league in opponent three-point percentage. Neither team shoots well from deep, but they will have a far easier time tonight.

The Wolfpack scored at least 77 points in four straight games and five of their previous six. The Seminoles have allowed more than 76+ points in four of their last five games. Florida State also has one of the worst defensive performances in the country on their resume, allowing a bad Louisville team to score 101 points in regulation.
