49ers vs. Jets Prop Bets and Predictions: The Return of Aaron Rodgers

  • Aaron Rodgers is 6-3 in his career against the 49ers.

  • Christian McCaffrey averaged 17 carries per game in 2023, including 22 in Week 1.

  • Rodgers has thrown 20 touchdowns and two interceptions in his career against the 49ers.

Monday Night Football concludes Week 1 of the NFL season with a massive matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets. Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is coming off a torn Achilles, and while the 49ers have wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and left tackle Trent Williams under contract and ready to go, they’ll be without rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who was shot in the chest earlier this offseason.

Here, I’ll be using odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, where you can get $200 in bonus bets and three free weeks of NFL Sunday Ticket by signing up for an account, depositing $10, and wagering $5.

Let’s dive in.

49ers vs. Jets Predictions

This is a tough game because there are so many variables. Aiyuk and Williams just got back into the building, and Rodgers is coming off his torn Achilles. He has new receivers and a new offensive line.

This game occurs in San Francisco, and the 49ers are favored by 4.5 points.

Over his career, Rodgers has been 6-3 against the 49ers, with 20 touchdowns and two interceptions. Of course, he hasn’t played against them since Week 3 of 2021, though.

Rodgers has a fantastic team around him with wide receiver Garrett Wilson, wide receiver Mike Williams, running back Breece Hall, and an upgraded offensive line.

I’m not ready to say the Jets will win, but I think they cover the spread here. Taking Rodgers as an underdog feels like the smart decision.

If you’re betting on the point spread, take the Jets +4.5.

49ers vs. Jets Best Prop Bets

Below are three player props I recommend for this matchup, including players like Rodgers, Christian McCaffrey, and Tyler Conklin.

Aaron Rodgers Interception: No (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Rodgers has always been a player that rarely throws interceptions. He had 12 in 2022, but before that, he had just 92 from 2006 to 2021. He didn’t begin starting games until 2008, but from 2008 to 2021, that’s 14 seasons. He averaged about 6.5 interceptions per season over that span.

Coming off a torn Achilles, I think we’ll see a bit more of a conservative approach, utilizing running back Breece Hall in the run game. Rodgers will still throw enough here to compete with the 49ers' top-tier offense, but I expect him to stay clean in the interception department. Over nine games against the 49ers in his career, Rodgers has thrown just two interceptions.

Christian McCaffrey Over 16.5 Rush Attempts (-106) at FanDuel Sportsbook

In 2023, McCaffrey had 272 carries across 16 games. That’s 17 carries per game. He had 17 carries or more in nine games.

The issue with McCaffrey getting to this number of carries is that he’s a fantastic pass-catching back. The 49ers averaged 29.4 rush attempts per game (sixth). Meanwhile, teams averaged 30.4 rush attempts against the Jets. Sure, that was with Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback, so there weren’t many shootouts per se.

We must also remember that the 49ers likely want to keep the Jets' offense and Rodgers off the field. What better way than to run the ball? They could give him plenty of dump-off passes, but I think McCaffrey, in Week 1 without the wear and tear, has 17 carries or more. Last season, he had 22 carries in Week 1.

Tyler Conklin Under 29.5 Receiving Yards (+Odds) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Conklin was a big part of the Jets' offense last year, but Wilson was the starting quarterback again.

Now, Rodgers is here and has Wilson, Williams, Hall, and even Malachi Corley and Allen Lazard to utilize.

Tight end were successful against the 49ers last season, catching 5.80 passes on 8.10 targets for 53.70 yards per game.

As for individual tight ends, 10 had 30 yards or more, including the 2023-24 postseason, with the 49ers going up against Sam LaPorta and Travis Kelce. So, during the regular season, eight tight ends managed 30 receiving yards or more.

Here, I think Rodgers utilizes his receiver and Hall more in his first game coming off a torn Achilles, but I think Conklin will have a role throughout the season.
