Bills vs Dolphins Josh Allen

Get ready for this Week 3 AFC East showdown between that division’s only two unbeaten teams, with Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills outscoring opponents 72-17 in the first two games facing the rebuilding Miami Dolphins whose comeback win last week included tying a franchise record.

The Buffalo Bills embarrassed an NFL franchise by whooping the Tennessee Titans on MNF in Week 2 by a score of 41-7, a blowout win that featured QB Josh Allen tossing four TDs with three of them going to WR Stefon Diggs while the D kept RB Derek Henry to 1.9 yds per carry.

Last week, the Miami Dolphins were down 35-14 to the Baltimore Ravens at the start of the 4th quarter until QB Tua Tagovailoa (36/50, 469 yds, 6 TDs) manufactured a comeback win featuring his newest favorite target called the Cheetah, WR Tyreek Hill (11 rec, 190 yds, 2 TDs).

Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins Predictions

Can the Bills’ Secondary Cover the Cheetah?

The reason Miami Dolphins newest WR Tyreek Hill is nicknamed ‘The Cheetah’ is due to his incredible speed on the field, this 5’ 10” 191 pound Oklahoma State and West Alabama alum able to run the 40-yard dash in just 4.29 seconds, arguably the fastest man in the NFL now.

Hill’s value as a WR is unquestionable – not only can he catch and run with the football, but he can also stretch out the field meaning his deep routes take up at least two defensive players on coverage leaving the rest of the gridiron more open for his pass-catching teammates (below).

Last week, Hill was an integral part of the Dolphins incredible comeback win catching 11 balls off 13 targets for 190 yards and 2 TDs, an unlikely victory that helps to solidify his team’s status as ‘rebuilt’ instead of the ‘rebuilding’ label they have carried for several long seasons now.

Can the Dolphins Defense Neutralize Bills QB Allen?

If Miami expects to beat the Bills on Sunday, the defensive line is going to have to get after Buffalo’s star QB Josh Allen who has only been sacked three times in the first two games, his terrific offensive line (ranked eighth before the season started) proving that assessment correct.

So far, the Dolphins have generated just two sacks all season and those were in Week 1 against the New England Patriots’ QB Mac Jones, with zero sacks in Week 2, and the D-line had 7 QB hits in Week 1 and none in Week 2, a bad sign that they are not getting home.

It will be up to DE Emmanuel Ogbah, NT Raekwon Davis, and DT Christian Wilkins to put Allen on the ground against the Buffalo front five – Ts Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown, Gs Rodger Saffold and Ryan Bates, and C Mitch Morse – a wall of aggressive meat that must be defeated.

Bills Key Player: (DE) Von Miller

One of the key difference makers on this year’s Bills defensive squad is veteran DE Von Miller who over the offseason signed with Buffalo on a six-year, $120 million deal, and so far all that promised money has been totally worth it for HC Sean McDermott and DC Leslie Frazier.

Miller spent his first ten and a half seasons with the Denver Broncos where he became a Super Bowl Champion and MVP for the first time and last season he played with the LA Rams and won another Lombardi Trophy, a 3x First-team All Pro and an 8x Pro Bowl player.

In just two games playing with the Bills, Miller has generated 2 sacks, 3 QB hits, 5 tackles with four of those for a loss (which leads the league), plus a pass defended, a production that has made his defense the second-ranked squad in the league that allows just 8.5 points per game.

Dolphins Key Player: (WRs) Jaylen Waddle and Cedric Wilson Jr.

Of course, everybody in the NFL world wants to talk about WR Tyreek Hill but Dolphins young QB Tua Tagovailoa has a couple more targets at his football disposal who can inflict almost as much damage as the Cheetah can through the air, namely Jaylen Waddle and Cedric Wilson.

Jaylen Waddle is a 5’ 10,” 182-pound Alabama product who is now in his 2nd NFL season, a former first-round pick who caught for 1,000+ yards and 5 TDs in his rookie season who has already posted 15 catches for 240 yards and 3 TDs during the first two games this year.

Cedric Wilson Jr. played his college football at Boise State using his size – 6’ 2” and 195 pounds – to fight for contested catches spending his first three NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and is now ready to be QB Tagovailoa’s slot receiver in case of emergency.
