Game one of the NFL’s Wild Card Sunday triple-header has the AFC’s 7th seed Miami Dolphins facing the 2nd seed Buffalo Bills, these 9-8 Dolphins barely snagging the final conference postseason berth after kicking three field goals to beat the New York Jets in Week 18, whereas these Bills have been through a near-death experience followed by two kickoff returns to the house in their Week 18 win.
The Bills get to play this Wild Card game in front of their hometown fans, one of many perks that come with earning the number two seed in the postseason, not to mention they far outrank the Dolphins on both sides of the ball, their 13-win season helped along by the stellar play of QB Josh Allen who has shown himself to be as dangerous on the run as he is through the air.
Here is some harsh news for Miami fans from the sportsbooks - the Bills have won eight of their last nine games against the Dolphins and the favorites have covered the spread in each of the Bills' last four postseason games, so we like Buffalo to do that here against Miami, especially given how Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) has been ruled out with rookie backup Skylar Thompson filling in.
Here is how these two AFC East divisional rivals have fared against each other this season – in Week 3 the Miami Dolphins beat the Bills 21-19, and in Week 14 Buffalo beat Miami 32-29, two close games with one being under and the other over what this bet allows, a challenging wager that might get easier with some basic research on these teams’ scoring tendencies this season.
These two pass-oriented offenses averaged a combined total of 51.8 points per game this season, and the defenses together allowed their opponents to score 41.4 points per game, again one of those over and the other under what BetRivers is suggesting for this wager, though it might help to know that six of the Dolphins' last seven road games have gone over the total points line.
Injuries could become a key factor in this game, especially for the Dolphins who have 14 players on IR or ruled out including QB Tua (see above) plus eight players listed as questionable to play including WR Jaylen Waddle (ankle), while the Bills only list a half dozen players as being on IR and three players who will be game-time decisions including S Jordan Poyer (knee) and DT Jordan Phillips (shoulder).

For any sports bettors looking to add a unique type of thrill to this game, DraftKings is offering this Player Parlay that has the gambler guessing whether two of the Dolphins’ playmakers can have a productive game, as in WR Tyreek Hill posting 100+ receiving yards as well as RB Raheem Mostert rushing for 50+ yards, with a $100 bet paying out $450 to winners plus the original wager.
So far in the regular season, Hill has caught for 100+ yards in seven different games so he could make it happen again in the playoffs, especially given whoever will be starting under center will need a lot of help from his receivers, something the Cheetah has done all season with 119 catches off 170 targets for 1,710 yards and 7 TDs, a deep threat who is constantly double-teamed to no avail.
Mosert is a 5’ 10” 205 pound veteran rusher who came out of Purdue, now running for his sixth NFL team and having a solid season with 181 carries for 891 yards and 3 TDs, so far with seven 50+ rushing yard games on the season, but he is currently listed as questionable to play due to a thumb issue, an injury that could be possible to work through given the high stakes of the postseason.
