Here is an NFC battle in the NFL’s Week 14 worth watching when the South’s 6-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the West’s 8-4 San Francisco 49ers, a fight led by a GOAT QB on the Bucs’ side as Tom Brady attempts to defy all his doubters against a rookie hurler in Brock Purdy on the Niner’s side of the field, filling in since starter Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) is out for the season.
But when you are driving a Ferrari filled with playmakers, even a rookie QB can sit in the driver’s seat, or so San Fran HC Kyle Shanahan hopes as he continues to game plan with some of the best talents in the league – RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuel, and pass-catching TE George Kittle, all capable of doing damage despite Tampa Bay’s 8th ranked defense.
The oddsmakers report that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have failed to cover the spread in nine of their last 10 games, so we like the San Francisco 49ers to get the job done considering they are 4-1 against the spread while playing at home, plus the Bucs are just 2-3 against the spread while playing away from home, both signs that the 49ers’ and their #1 defense will carry the day.

Forget the fact that San Fran’s latest QB Purdy was born in 1999, which also happens to be the same year that Bucs' 45 year old QB
Brady started his NFL run with the Patriots, one that netted multiple Super Bowl rings, and useless props in this game in 2022, but a sign that in the end when it comes to scoring, the old veteran might have a few more tricks up his sleeves (despite his injured O-line) than does the rookie.
The sportsbooks report that seven of the Buccaneers' last eight games have gone under the total points line, and given the backup under center for the Forty-Niners, that might be a smart bet here, but with such a low total from the oddsmakers – 37 – it is tough to imagine these two teams not going over, especially given their offenses average a combined total of 41.6 ppg.
Of course, also consider how these defenses have been defending their own end zones, so far this season the Buccaneers allowing opponents to score 18.3 ppg while San Francisco’s defense has allowed 15.3 ppg, that total of 33.6 no doubt the reason this bet is listed so low, a good indication to choose the under here if you think the defenses will dominate the game.

When it comes to doing well in San Francisco, the 49ers have won nine of their last 10 games at Levi's Stadium, a good sign to take this special bet from DraftKings in Week 14, a player parlay that involves RB Christian McCaffrey generating at least 65+ yards on the ground and TE George Kittle recording at least one receiving TD, a combo that could produce a decent payout.
So far this season, McCaffrey has played for two different teams (Panthers, 49ers) and in the dozen games he started he exceeded 65+ yards of rushing five different times, and in the ten games in which TE George Kittle suited up this season, he has posted a receiving TD in three of them (two in Week 11), and in two of those same weeks, McCaffrey failed to exceed 65+ rush yards.
That’s where this bet gets tough to call – will Niners’ HC Shanahan figure out a way to get both of these playmakers the ball using a rookie QB who is only just learning the game plan?
But if it happens a $100 specials bet here would payout $350 plus that original investment, a fun way to add a bit of excitement to this already thrilling NFC matchup with postseason implications on both sides.
