MNF Prop Bets Week 2 Doubleheader: Herbert, Jeanty, Mayfield Among the Best Prop Picks
-
The Texans (-2.5) are hosting the Buccaneers to kick off MNF
-
The Chargers (-3) are visiting the Raiders for an AFC West battle
-
MNF Week 1 ended in a roaring comeback for the favored Vikings over the Bears
A Monday Night double-header defines the final day of NFL Week 2, and I’ve got my picks for the best prop bets of the evening.
The games begin with the Houston Texans hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. C.J. Stroud will look to replicate his 2023 performance, when he racked up 470 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie, when he faced the Bucs for the only time in his young career.
The night will end with the Las Vegas Raiders welcoming the Los Angeles Chargers into town. Both teams are 1-0, although the Chargers are coming off a massive win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil.
Here are my best picks and bets for Monday Night Football in Week 2.

Baker Mayfield Under 20.5 Completions (-115) at FanDuel
The Texans held opposing quarterbacks to the lowest average completion percentage last year, and they kept the brilliant Matthew Stafford to 21 completions in Week 1. Mayfield is more of a risk-taker than Stafford and isn’t as accurate, and he only went 17-32 against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.
C.J. Stroud’s brilliant rookie season has caused the NFL world to view the Texans as an offense-minded team, but it’s their defense that is consistent. I expect Tampa to try to run the ball to avoid the perils of throwing into their secondary.

Nick Chubb Under 51.5 Rushing Yards (-115) at FanDuel
Chubb gained 60 yards on 13 carries against the Rams, though the Texans’ offense was held to just nine points. He’s also coming off a season in which he only averaged 3.3 yards per carry in eight games for the Cleveland Browns following another devastating knee injury.
The Bucs have a stout defensive line and did a number on the Falcons last week, holding Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier to a combined 48 yards on 22 carries. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them shut the water off for the Texans’ running game, which has never been great.

Ashton Jeanty Over 67.5 Rushing Yards (-115) at BetMGM
Jeanty’s NFL career didn’t get off to a fairytale start, as he was held to 38 rushing yards on 19 carries. However, he’s still a generational talent at running back, and his Week 1 volume shows that the Raiders intend to give him plenty of chances to pick up yardage.
Pete Carroll is a coach who loves to stay committed to the run, and Jeanty was one of the most explosive runners in the history of college football. The Chargers didn’t have to contend with much of a running game from the Chiefs, but Jeanty just needs one big run to get over this line.

Justin Herbert Under 255.5 Passing Yards (-115) at BetMGM
Herbert was dialed in for his season opener, going 25-34 for 318 yards and three touchdowns against the Chiefs. He’ll go against a Raiders defense that only allowed 13 points, but surrendered 287 yards through the air against the New England Patriots in their 20-13 victory last Sunday.
It might sound counterintuitive, but I expect the Chargers to try to establish the run more than they did against the Chiefs. There’s also less pressure on Herbert to light up the night sky against Geno Smith than there is against Patrick Mahomes, so I expect more conservative play calling from the coaching staff, which should lead to fewer yards.
