Kicking off the night in the NHL on this Wednesday night is the cross-conference matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks (23-49-5) going on the road to take on the St. Louis Blues (41-32-5). In a traditional bet, the game line would not be sufficient enough to place a bet on with the Blues being a huge favorite. The best bet to go for the night will be the puck line which should make the game more believable than being upset.
The first time the two teams met on the ice, the Blues took a 4-2 road win over the Blackhawks on November 26. The last time they met was a 7-5 home win for the Blues on December 23.
St. Louis is desperately looking to make a playoff push this late into the season. A solid win over the Blackhawks would help the Blues significantly in the Western Conference playoff chase with the Vegas Golden Knights in line for the last wild card spot.
The Blackhawks are also trying to get a favorable position for the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft so they are trying not to win on purpose. Chicago is ranked last in the league in goals per game (2.18) despite having center Connor Bedard. They are also ranked 28th in the league in goals allowed per game (3.47).
The Blues, on the other hand, are ranked 24th in the league in goals per game (2.85), but their defense is ranked 16th in goals allowed per game (3.06). This is a game where the Blues should dominant on the defensive side of the ice over the Blackhawks’ offense.

The biggest game of the night is set as the Vegas Golden Knights (42-27-8) go on the road to take on the Edmonton Oilers (47-24-5) in a key Pacific Divisional battle with serious playoff implications. The Oilers have secured a spot in the Western Conference playoffs already, but they are fighting for better seeding and the divisional title. The Golden Knights, on the other hand, are looking to still secure a playoff spot and potentially the last Pacific Divisional spot.
This game will be the third and final matchup of the season between the two teams. The Oilers and the Golden Knights have each won a game at home this season with Vegas getting the latest victory at home with a 3-1 win on February 6.
The Oilers have won two consecutive games with one of them being a 6-2 win at home over the Colorado Avalanche. They have also won six of the last eight games played.
The Golden Knights, on the other hand, have lost two consecutive games. One of the losses was on the road to the Arizona Coyotes with a 7-4 score.
Edmonton is coming into this game with a much more efficient team on both sides of the ice. The Oilers are ranked fourth in the league in goals per game (3.58) while their defense is ranked ninth in goals allowed per game (2.86). The Golden Knights are ranked 14th in the league in goals per game (3.21) while their defense allows an average of 2.96 goals per game (12th in the league).
The Oilers have the more efficient team on both sides of the ice, while also having a home-court advantage. They should take this last game in this rivalry and get revenge on the Western Conference Semi-Finals from last season.
