Best NHL Bets Today May 09 2024

This Thursday night is going to be another set of matchups that have great betting opportunities. While the game lines will be great for the matchups against the New York Rangers versus the Carolina Hurricanes and the Colorado Avalanche at the Dallas Stars, the over/under lines will be even better. These bats are going to be incredibly beneficial similar to Tuesday nights set of games. Look for the best over/under odds to come from DraftKings Sportsbook

New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes - Game Three

My Pick: Over 5.5 Goals Scored (-110) at DraftKings

The second matchup between the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes has a Stanley Cup Finals-type atmosphere and hype. The two teams are likely to come out of this series and become favorites to win the Eastern Conference.

The first two games of the series between the two teams have gone to the Rangers, but the way the games have resulted are shocking. Both games have resulted in seven total goals scored with the Rangers winning those games 4-3.

The over/under is set at 5.5 goals, which is low for the two previous games played already in the series. The Rangers have scored four goals in five of the six games played, including the four-game series against the Washington Capitals. The Hurricanes have averaged 3.5 goals in the seven games played, but have yet to consistently yet to fulfill the potential of their offense. Carolina has the experience and the star players now to have their offense play at a high level, but have been suppressed at times in the postseason.

The Hurricanes will have a chance to get their offense rolling as a series goes to rally for the first time for two games. There will also be serious implications for the hurricane supply well offensively as they are down 2-0 to the Rangers currently in the series.

As for the Rangers, they will look to finish the two games in Raleigh, North Carolina and complete a series sweep for the second time in the postseason. Both of these attributes will make for another high-power offensive game.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars - Game Two

My Pick: Over 6.5 Goals Scored (-102) at DraftKings

The second and final match of the night will be set as the Colorado Avalanche go on the road once again to take on the Dallas Stars. On Tuesday night, the avalanche survived a 4-3 win in overtime on the road despite losing the face-off battle. The Stars scored three goals in the first period but managed to score two goals in the second period and a final goal at the beginning of the third.

Tuesday night’s performance against the Stars was the lowest that the Avalanche scored throughout the entire postseason. The Avalanche are averaging 5.3 goals per game in the six games played so far this postseason.

The biggest key to watch out for in this over/under bet is the efficiency of the Stars’ offense. Throughout the postseason, the Stars have been inconsistent on the officer side of the ice as their defense has been playing well. Dallas has scored three or more goals in five of the eight games played in the postseason.

Tonight's game has a high likelihood of more than six goals being scored as the Avalanche can accomplish this on their own.  Dallas is going to come into this game with some urgency being down by one game in their own home stadium. Their offense looks to pick up the pace and compete with the avalanche offense as their defense cannot do it alone.
