Best NHL Prop Bets Today March 21

Minnesota Wild vs New Jersey Devils

Jesper Bratt O 2.5 Shots on Goal -110 (DraftKings)

Our first prop bet of the day could go either way, but I am leaning toward the over. This bet takes us to the east coast for a game between the Minnesota Wild and the New Jersey Devils. It involves the Devils’ Jesper Bratt. Bratt is the best winger on the Devils. He is only 24 years old but already has 66 points (30 goals, 33 assists) in 70 games. He is an efficient scorer and converts over 16% of his opportunities. Bratt will shoot three or more times today. Bet on the over.

Bratt is averaging 2.6 shots per game this season. That is not the most convincing number, so I will add this. He is shooting nearly three times a game in March and coming off a five-shot game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Those five shots resulted in a hat trick, so he has momentum going into this matchup. Bratt will use that momentum and not be shy to shoot today. I expect him to shoot 3-5 times. Bet on the over.

Nashville Predators vs Buffalo Sabres

Dylan Cozens O 0.5 Points -115 (DraftKings)

Our second prop bet of the day takes us to Buffalo, New York, and involves an interesting matchup between the Nashville Predators and the Buffalo Sabres. Both of these teams are outside of the Playoff picture but can make it with a late push. Since that is the case, this game will probably be quite intense. We will look at Dylan Cozens for this bet. Cozens is an efficient player but does not get a lot of attention since he plays behind the likes of Tage Thompson, Jeff Skinner, and Alex Tuch. However, he is having a solid season and has 57 points (26 goals, 31 assists) in 68 games. This is impressive because he averages less than 16.5 minutes a game on the ice. He will secure point # 58 today. Bet on the over.

Cozens has gone three games without points. That may sound concerning, but the 22-year-old has not gone more than three games without a point this year. For whatever reason, he steps up in game four and gets a point via goal or assist. That is not the only reason you should bet on the over. Cozens is also more efficient at home and scored a goal against the Predators the first time he faced them. These are the correct circumstances for him to have at least one point. Bet on the over.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs New York Islanders

Auston Matthews U 0.5 Goals +100 (DraftKings)

We will go to Long Island for our third prop bet of the day. This should be one of the best games on slate today. The Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders are not similar teams but are both in Playoff spots and trying to secure their seeding. That will make for a high-energy matchup.

This bet involves the Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews. Matthews is a star (and has been one for many years), but even the best cannot score every game. While I am a longtime fan of the center, I do expect him to score a goal tonight. Bet on the under.

Matthews comes into this game with 70 points (32 goals, 38 assists). He has three goals in his previous five games and is averaging a little over half a goal a game. I realize that does not sway you either way, so I will say this. Matthews will be facing a tough New York Islanders team tonight. The Islanders allow less than three goals a game and have only given up four in their previous two games. The Islanders’ defense will make it a little too difficult for the 25-year-old to score. In addition, the Maple Leafs are playing on the road, and Matthews scores a little bit less on the road. I do not need to say anything else. Bet on the under.

Minnesota Wild vs New Jersey Devils

Vitek Vanecek O 25.5 Saves -120 (DraftKings)

Our final two prop bet will be goalie props. The first one involves the New Jersey Devils Vitek Vanecek. Vanecek has been a decent netminder for his whole career but is having his best season so far. He has starred in his role as the Devils' #1 netminder. He will have at least 26 saves today. Bet on the over.

Vanecek comes into this game with a .909 save percentage. It is a pretty average save percentage but good enough to keep him as the starter. He will be facing a Minnesota Wild team that average 31.5 shots per game. However, the Wild shot 40 times in their previous game and are averaging over 35 shots in their previous three games. They are shooting at a higher clip, giving Vanecek many more opportunities to get saves. If Minnesota continues to shoot like this, Vanecek will hit the over.

Florida Panthers vs Philadelphia Flyers

Carter Hart O 30.5 Saves +110 (DraftKings)

Our final prop bet takes us to Philadelphia and involves Flyers’ goaltender Carter Hart. The under/over for this bet is set pretty high, but it is accurate. The Flyers’ defense allows many shots, so Hart finishes with 30+ saves pretty often. He will do so again this game. Bet on the over.

Hart will be facing a Florida Panthers team that shoots almost 37 times a game. He faced them earlier this season and shot an absurd 51 times. Hart finished with 48 saves in that game and put together a strong performance. I do not expect 51 shots again this time but probably 35-40 shots. If the Panthers shoot that much, Hart will have at least 32 saves.

Hart is not an excellent goalie and will not be named to any All-Star teams soon, but he will have at least 31 saves because he sees so many shots. Bet on the over.
