The first-round series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers have been unusual, to say the least. Florida's offense and Tampa Bay's defense have been the biggest battle in this matchup.
There has been times when Tampa Bay's defense looks pretty decent considering they are among one of the worst events in the league. That being said, the Panthers have had some reliable playmaking star players for them, including some who are role players.
Center Carter Verhaeghe is not an elite player for the Panthers, but he has been there when they needed him the most this postseason. He has made game-winning shots against the Lightning this postseason and has been an efficient passer.
In the four games played this postseason, he has accounted for six points with three being assists. There have been two games where he has accounted for and assisted to help break through the Lightning's surprisingly adaptable defense. The Panthers will look to rely on him again as they look to wrap up this series at home before the Lightning gets a chance to build on their momentum. This will be a critical game for the Panthers as the series will shift to Tampa Bay and help ultimately give them an edge that can lead into seven full games.

The Western Conference matchup between the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights has been completely unexpected. It shouldn't be surprising knowing how much Vegas matches up with Dallas. It is a surprise however that they have won the first two games of the series despite matching up well with the Stars.
One big reason is that the Golden Knights are aggressive on both sides of the ice and are efficient with their star players. One star player who consistently finds himself in great positions to score or create an assist is center Jack Eichel. And the four games played in the series, Michael has accounted for five Points with three being assists. He has had the most impact on the Golden Knights on a loaded roster.
His impact in helping set up great scoring opportunities for his teammates goes back to the regular season, including the end of the season where he accounted for three assists in the last four games. Eichel has consistently found himself in great positions to set up great scores and goals for his teammates. Look for him to account for another assist or to assist in Monday's game versus Dallas.
