The one game set to be played on Friday night will be the Eastern Conference battle between the Buffalo Sabres hosting the New Jersey Devils. This has been a series this season where the offense prevails, mostly from the Devils’ side.
In each of the wins for New Jersey, there have been different players for the Devils that have contributed to scoring consistently. Those games were much earlier in the season. Within March, one Devil has become a more aggressive role player on the offensive side of the ice.
In 14 games played this month, forward Timo Meier has accounted for 19 points with 13 being goals. He accounted for two or more points in four of the last five games played for the Devils. He is a player that has risen to the occasion after the team traded forward Tyler Toffoli. Look for Meier to continue his impressive presence on the ice and get the Devils on a solid run.

Don’t expect this matchup between Eastern Conference foes to be one-sided. Even though the New Jersey Devils have won both games against the Buffalo Sabres, they haven’t suppressed the Sabres from scoring.
The biggest problem for the Devils is their inability to be reliable on the defensive side of the ice. New Jersey is ranked 27th in the league in goals allowed per game (3.37).
The best opportunity for the Sabres is get to their offense rolling to score consistently. One player who has been on a great stretch of efficiency within the last few games is Sabres forward Alex Tuch.
All seven of his assists accounted for this March have come from the last six games played. He has been able to set up great scoring opportunities for his teammates against teams with great defenses like Seattle, Vancouver and Edmonton, all on the road.
On Friday, Tuch and the Sabres will have the home-court advantage and will have the opportunity to score more against the terrible defense of New Jersey. Tuch will be the player to call upon to get the offense rolling versus the Devils.
