World Cup BTTS Predictions 2026 06 22 Kylian Mbappe France

Argentina vs. Austria: BTTS Yes (+100) at BetMGM

Argentina made a positive start to the defense of its World Cup crown on matchday one. A starring display from Lionel Messi, who scored his first ever hat-trick on soccer’s biggest stage, earned it a 3-0 victory over a decent Algeria side and instantly validated many pre-tournament World Cup predictions. Messi was the standout performer on the night, but Argentina’s midfield also impressed.

Its defense did well too, albeit it was largely untested due to a lack of clinical edge from Algeria. The backline still looks like a potential weak point for Argentina. The full-backs are unconvincing, while Cristian Romero does not appear to be fully fit. Austria, with its powerful runners across the field, will do a better job of troubling Argentina’s rearguard than Algeria. It has also scored in six consecutive fixtures.

At the same time, it is difficult to envisage Austria keeping Argentina out. It failed to keep a clean sheet against Jordan, which held its own against Ralf Rangnick’s charges for 60 minutes. Even if Messi has a quieter game, Argentina has other offensive tools to hurt Austria. Goals at both ends is the way to go here - choose BTTS yes at +100 with BetMGM.

France vs. Iraq: BTTS No (-250) at BetMGM

It was a tale of two halves for France against Senegal in its maiden outing of World Cup 2026. Didier Deschamps’ team was second best in the opening 45 minutes. Its attack failed to spark, there was no flow to its possession play, and Senegal broke in behind its backline on the break on more than one occasion. Thankfully for les Bleus, everything changed in the second period.

The key change was Deschamps’ decision to move Michael Olise into the No.10 role. He got France playing and they pinned Senegal back from the 46th minute onwards. A 3-1 win was deserved in the end, although a perfectionist like Deschamps will have been frustrated with the goal France conceded late on. He will put an emphasis on keeping things tight at the back for the full match today.

Iraq had its moments against Norway, but a 4-1 defeat has left it rooted to the foot of the Group I table, heavily shifting the World Cup Group Stage odds against them. Another loss here would leave the Lions of Mesopotamia on the brink of an early exit from the World Cup. Its offense will struggle to penetrate a sturdy France backline, so choose BTTS no at -250 with BetMGM.

Norway vs. Senegal: BTTS Yes (-140) at BetMGM

The next of our Both Teams to Score tips focuses on a pivotal match in Group I. With France the favorite to finish top, one of Norway or Senegal is likely to advance to the next round as runners-up. Norway has the advantage after its 4-1 victory over Iraq last time out, but a victory for Senegal would change the picture completely.

The pressure is on the Lions of Teranga. It did well against France in the first half but it will have to take a few more risks here, since a loss would leave it vulnerable to going home early. The France game may have ended badly, but Senegal still managed to find the back of the net. It has now drawn a blank in only one of its last 13 matches, which demonstrates its attacking firepower.

Norway packs an even greater punch going forward, especially with Erling Haaland on song. In its last 20 games, only one of Norway’s opponents have kept a clean sheet against it. Meanwhile, both teams have scored in seven of Norway’s last eight encounters. Choose BTTS yes at -140 with BetMGM.

Jordan vs. Algeria: BTTS Yes (+100) at BetMGM

We round off our BTTS predictions today football with Jordan vs Algeria, which takes place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Both teams suffered defeat on matchday one - Jordan matched Austria for part of its opening game, while Algeria was outclassed by a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina - and another negative result today would leave the losing side in a tough position.

As well as being undone by Messi, Algeria did not manage to lay a glove on the Argentina defense. Some of its approach play was promising, but it was not decisive enough with the final pass in and around the opposition penalty area. It should be better here: Algeria has scored in 10 of its last 13 matches, and the Jordan defense is weaker than Argentina’s.

Jordan was lively in forward areas in a 3-1 defeat by Austria. Although it was forced to defend deep, it did a good job of springing into counter-attacks. Only one of Jordan’s last 10 opponents has successfully shut its attack out, which bodes well for its chances of scoring in today’s game against Algeria. Pick BTTS yes at +100 with BetMGM.
