FanDuel Sportsbooks Announces New Missouri Partnership
It didn’t take long for FanDuel Sportsbook to select a partner for Missouri’s upcoming sports betting launch.
The industry-leading sportsbooks have announced a new partnership with MLS club St. Louis City SC. The deal allows FanDuel to apply for one of Missouri’s sports betting licenses ahead of the market’s December 1 launch.
"Missouri is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and we are thrilled to partner with St. Louis CITY SC to introduce our industry-leading product to the Show Me State," a FanDuel press release shared. "We look forward to supporting the team and engaging with the community as we bring America's #1 Sportsbook to fans across Missouri."
The deal comes just days after FanDuel surprisingly lost out on one of the state’s two untethered licenses. These allow operators to enter the market without an in-state partnership, allowing them to hold on to more of their profits. While the loss was a disappointment, it didn’t take long for FanDuel to find another way into Missouri.
The partnership represents a massive win for St. Louis City SC. FanDuel is the country’s largest operator, meaning they bring in far more revenue than almost all their rivals. While the details of the partnership have yet to be released, the MLS club should receive a significant source of revenue starting in December.
FanDuel Hoping to Capitalize on New Midwest Market
FanDuel didn’t waste any time in pursuing a Missouri sports betting license. One reason for that is the state’s low tax rate, which is one of the lowest in the country at 10%. With other states working to raise their rates, Missouri is becoming even more appealing.
The launch of Missouri sports betting comes at a good time for FanDuel. The operators have seen their relationship with Illinois sour after massive tax hikes were passed. While we don’t know how the battle will affect the state’s gambling revenue, it appears FanDuel is already seeking a new Midwest market to invest in.
