World-famous YouTuber, improving professional boxer, and wannabe future world champion Jake Paul returns to the ring on Saturday to face Mike Perry. The pair clash at the stunning Amalie Arena in Tampa, United States of America with the first bell expected at 9 PM ET on Saturday.
It’s not the fight many Team Paul fans wanted to see this weekend, with their favorite originally scheduled to face the former Baddest Man on the Planet, Mike Tyson. Iron Mike suffered an injury in training that forced the bout to be rescheduled until 15th November 2024, with the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, providing the backdrop.
While we wait for Paul vs Tyson, we enjoy a worthy warm-up in Paul vs former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) contender Perry. Mike enters the professional boxing ring for only the second time, and he’s determined to stop his opponent in his tracks. Who will win, Paul or Perry? You can follow the fight live on DAZN and make your predictions at the leading online sportsbook websites and mobile apps.

Like the idea or hate the thought of seeing an aging and past-his-best Mike Tyson return to the ring, Jake will more than likely face Mike before the end of the year. To keep that bout on track and to help maintain any slither of creditability it might hold with boxing fans, Paul must beat Perry and get the desired result in good style. A defeat on Saturday would knock him off-course, and Jake would have no business fighting Iron Mike on the back of an embarrassing reverse to an MMA fighter.
Cruiserweight Paul arrives in Tampa to face Perry with his professional boxing record showing nine wins against one defeat, with six victories coming inside the distance and the spare loss on his card coming on points. The only man to defeat Jake since he made a surprise pro boxing debut back in 2020 is Tommy Fury on a split decision in Saudi Arabia. Paul lost that bout on the scorecards to his English opponent after eight competitive rounds with the cards reading 75-74, 73-76, 73-76, with two of the three scoring judges giving Fury the nod. It was closer than expected, but the right man got the decision.
Since suffering his first loss as a prizefighter, Jake has fought three times and landed a trio of victories, all in stunning fashion. He rallied to score a comeback win over Nate Diaz in Dallas after ten rounds after sending his opponent to the canvas in the fifth. Paul beat Diaz by margins of five and eight rounds. He then progressed to stop Andre August inside a round and then beat Ryan Bourland before the end of the opener in Puerto Rico. Will he extend his record to ten wins from 11 fights?
Mike Perry enters the ring as a seasoned fighter in MMA and bare-knuckle boxing. He is a two-time winner of UFC Performance of the Night and a two-time winner of UFC Fight of the Night. In bare-knuckle boxing, Platinum Perry is a King of Violence championship winner, Fight of the Night winner, and was awarded the BKFC 2023 Male Fighter of the Year award. What he lacks in professional boxing experience, he more than makes up for in hard-earned fight-game experience and that will stand him in good stead on Saturday.
During his time in the octagon, Perry collected an impressive record of 14 wins against eight defeats, with 11 wins by knockout and three by decision. He lost six fights on points, one by submission and the spare by KO/TKO. Mike’s most recent outing under mixed martial arts rules saw him lose to Daniel Rodrigues in Las Vegas on a UFC card. That result means he has now lost each of his last two starts, four of five and seven of ten. Critics suggest he’s on the slide, and at 32 years old, he could be facing the end of his time in the UFC.
His record and recent form does little to suggest Perry could win on Saturday in Tampa, but he possesses something many of Jake’s previous opponents with an MMA background don’t, and that’s valuable and credible boxing experience. His time as a bare-knuckle fighter and his pro debut against Kenneth McNeil means he knows exactly what to expect and has the fundamentals to challenge. Will that be enough to silence his opponent? Fight fans can’t wait to find out on Saturday evening.
Bet on Bet on Mike Perry at bet365
I expect this fight to follow the pattern of many of Paul’s previous outings in the squared circle, with the YouTuber scoring a stoppage win. He should use his improving boxing skills to impress the judges against an opponent who will be rusty, off the pace and lacking the kind of boxing experience it takes to win at this level. Yes, Perry has experience fighting before a sell-out audience, and that side of the game won’t faze him. But he’s now up against a man who is getting sharper, fitter, and more accurate with the passing of every round.
I expect Paul to steer clear of the early danger and fast start that’s likely to come from the man starting in the opposite corner. As the bout progresses through the rounds, Perry will grow more tired, find himself behind on the scorecards, and begin to get desperate. That’s when Jake will go through the gears and score a stoppage in the middle to later rounds.
