New York Subliners vs Florida Mutineers Predictions

New York Subliners vs Florida Mutineers Predictions

New York Subliners go into this match as firm favorites. The two sides are moving in opposite directions currently.  New York Subliners are sitting in second place on the CDL table and competing for big honors like the CDL Champs and Major 4 tournaments.

Florida Mutineers, on the other hand, are sitting in 10th place on the CDL table but amassed the same number of points as the bottom two sides. They’re just trying to get by – no one’s expecting them to beat the New York Subliners, but that doesn’t mean they should hand them a victory.

The Mutineers need to put in a solid performance to regain their confidence - they have nothing to lose in this tie. The Subliners need to be professional and get the job done. There are no easy games in this league and complacency can be an issue later in the season. All things said, the New York Subliners would win this match comfortably.

New York Subliners Aren’t the Finished Article

New York Subliners have been excellent in recent times and their 65% win rate is a testament to that, but they’ve still got a few things to improve on. For starters, they are still a little way off sides like Atlanta FaZe, Los Angeles Thieves, and OpTic Texas.

The Grand Final loss to Los Angeles Thieves in Major 4 and 3-0 loss to OpTic Texas in the CDL Champs was a good reminder that they still have a way to go despite putting in some top league performances recently.

For starters, their record in Search & Destroy and Control needs to improve. They’ve won 22 and lost 20 of their matches in Control, which is decent, but teams will always feel like they have a chance to get something against the Subliners in this mode.

In Search & Destroy, the record is genuinely concerning. They’ve lost 27 and won 25, which is not becoming of a side that wants to win top honors – such an obvious weakness will be targeted by teams, so they can’t take any game lightly.

Florida Mutineers Have Nothing to Lose

The Florida Mutineers have had a tough couple of months. They took some heavy losses to Atlanta FaZe and the Subliners in Major 4 after doing an admirable job in the Major 4 qualifiers. The 3-0 loss to the Subliners in Major 4 will be playing on their minds a little heading into this game, but they can’t approach it with fear.

Their record on the Control game mode isn’t that much worse than the Subliners’ – they have to back themselves if a match occurs on this mode. The record on Search & Destroy isn’t great (26 losses and 21 wins) but nor is the Subliners’.

They’ve also got the talents of Owakening to call upon, who is good enough to play for the top sides in the league. He has averaged 20.3 kills per 10 minutes on Control and 0.71 per round on Search & Destroy this season. Only Subliners’ Hydra has stats matching Owakenin’s between the two teams.

If the Mutineers can find a way to enhance Owakening’s strengths and neutralize Hydra, they have a decent chance of getting something from this match.
