Compared to most of the sportsbooks available in the US, Unibet is the baby of the bunch. Sports betting was legalized in June 2018 following the removal of PASPA by the Supreme Court.

Most major sportsbooks wasted no time and opened for business in the Garden State in the following months. In contrast, Unibet took its time. The company spent over a year building its site and app, before finally launching in September 2019.

As they say, good things come to those who wait.

Unibet has been a big name in the gambling circles of Europe for years, and you can really tell that they’ve brought that experience to the company’s newly minted sports betting platforms.

Here are some of the main things to know about Unibet:

  • The site has a long list of sports available to bet on, with hundreds of betting markets typically available for most of them.

  • Unibet sportsbook operates in partnership with Hard Rock Casino Atlantic City, and you can physically deposit and withdraw money from the brick-and-mortar sportsbook if you prefer not to use the online banking options.

  • The sportsbook is legal, and fully licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

  • You can sign up for an account with Unibet from anywhere, but to comply with the wagering requirements, you must be physically located in the legalized state.

As you may have gathered already, we are fans of Unibet. One big reason is that the site has added interesting and unique features to help it stand out from the growing crowd of US sportsbooks.

We didn’t find any major weaknesses during our review, and there are some areas where Unibet is clearly right up there with the best.

Next up, we’re going to get more in-depth with the main features of the Unibet sportsbook.

Unibet Software and Mobile Sports Betting App

We were impressed with Unibet’s website. The interface is clear and easy on the eye, with a green and black theme that also makes plenty of use of white space.

The sportsbook shares a website with Unibet’s online casino. In our experience, this has the potential to be a problem – if users who are only interested in the sportsbook are constantly being directed to casino games, for example.

Luckily this wasn’t an issue for Unibet. Both sections of the website are kept entirely separate, and you can switch from Unibet Casino to the Unibet Sportsbook via the menu at the top of the page.

On the left-hand side of the sportsbook, you can see the full list of sports available to bet on. A nice touch is that the number of currently available markets for each is included in beside each sport.

Clicking on any of the sports brings you to a new screen where you can see all the games or events available to bet on. Unibet makes good use of drop-down menus to keep things organized and it makes it easy to find the specific leagues or bet types you are looking for.

Clicking into an individual game shows you all the betting markets associated with it – usually in the hundreds for the most popular sports.

There is also an external link which should show you match stats – but we couldn’t always get it to work during our tests.

When you click on a bet, the bet slip pops up from the bottom of the screen. We liked the bet slip a lot, which allows you to add all kinds of different bets to one slip easily. The “Bet Builder” feature, a tool that helps you create parlay bets, is great too.

Unibet also makes live betting really easy with a huge counter displayed prominently on the home page showing how many live events are available to bet on at any given time.

We found the dedicated Unibet mobile app to more than match up to the website, with all the same features available. The in-play section really comes alive on the app too, with slick in-play graphics showing updates on your phone in real-time.

It’s easy to download the app onto your mobile or tablet. Wager easily with the Unibet casino app and sportsbook mobile app on iOS (available from the Apple Store) and Android devices (not available on Google Play Store, can only be downloaded from the Unibet website). If you want to see how Unibet compares to other bookmakers, check out our guide to the best mobile sportsbook apps.

Software and App Highlights

  • Clear and easy to navigate around, with a stylish color scheme.

  • Placing bets is intuitive and fun, especially using the Bet Builder tool.

  • The site and app aren’t crowded with advertisements, which is always a plus.

  • Casino games are easy to access but are kept entirely separate from the sportsbook.

  • Easy to use live betting section, which looks great on the app.

Things to Improve

  • Unibet online sportsbook has improved greatly ever since it first came out on the market. We would have liked to see a clearer structure of the home page and easy access to customer support. Unibet has improved all these features and much more.

Bonuses and Promo Codes at Unibet

Unibet launched on the US online gambling market much later than the majority of sportsbooks, meaning the company has some catching up to do in terms of claiming a market share. A great way to attract customers is to lure them in with promotions and new player welcome offers.

It’s not surprising that Unibet has stepped things up in this department.

Promotions tend to change all the time, and you can check out what offers Unibet is running by clicking the “Promo” tab from the menu at the top of the screen.

Here is what we found during our review:

Second Chance Bet

This is Unibet’s welcome offer for Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, and Arizona. All you have to do is sign up and if your first bet loses, you'll get up to $100 in bonus bets. Pennsylvania bettors have it even better as they can bet up to $500 and still get a full amount in Unibtet bonus bets.

New Jersey Welcome Bonus

Unibet will quadruple your initial wager (as long as minimum odds are +100) up to $100, win or lose.

Refer a Friend Bonus

Indiana and Virginia players can use their personalized bonus codes to refer new customers. Bonus money will be applied for each referred player. As soon as the new player you referred makes a first deposit, you receive your bonus.

Bonuses aren't equal across states, however. Virginia and Indiana bettors get $25 per referral up to a maximum of $125, while Arizonans get $50 for each referred player up to a maximum of $500.

This referral is not available in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Weekly Parlay Boost – Pigskin Parlay Super Boost Offer

This is a great NFL promotion for Unibet customers. You get a 50% cash boost on your football parlay.

All you have to do is select 8 Pre-Match football games, both NFL and NCAAF. To qualify, each selection in your bet-slip must have odds greater than -500.

Redeem one 50% boost every week (max stake $50).

These are significant odds boosts. With this promotion, Unibet is giving users the opportunity to really maximize their winnings, every week.

Choose your parlays wisely to make the most of it.

For more on how parlay betting works, check out our complete guide on “What is parlay betting and how do parlay bets work?“.

Other Promotions

Unibet tends to have specific promotions based around some of the most popular upcoming sports events or the most important game of the week. For example, the current weekly offer is a “Profit Boost” focused on the NBA playoffs and Tennis tournaments. You can get a 20% profit boost on any MLB game, get a 15% profit boost on a live bet on any NBA game, get a 10% profit boost on a live bet on any Tennis match.

These offers change weekly so make sure to head to the Unibet Promotions section and check out their latest bonuses and promos. The bonuses vary state-by-state so make sure you're looking at the right page.

Kinds of Bets and Odds

A wide range of bets is essential for any sportsbook that wants to attract a lot of new customers.

First and foremost, the most popular bets should be easy to find and place, since this is what the majority of Unibet customers will be interested in.

Beyond that, our experts look for lots of options for prop bets and more obscure betting.

Finally, we keep an eye out for any unique betting features which make a sportsbook stand out from the crowd.

Here is what we discovered at Unibet:

  • The site is well structured, so the most popular bets are always the most visible.

  • Beyond this, the biggest sports have loads of more betting options available, including lots of technical prop bets.

  • It’s easy to get a sense of the range of betting available for each sport, thanks to the menu which shows the number of markets beside each sport.

  • The odds are competitive with the other top online sportsbooks, and thanks to Unibet’s odds boost promotions, you can often find the best odds in the city depending on what kind of bet you are placing,

Let’s take a closer look at the kinds of bets available at Unibet.

Popular Bets

While there are lots of betting options on Unibet, the majority of the action will still be on the most popular wagers like money lines, point spreads, and totals. These are the easiest bets to find on the site.

When you select a sport from the menu, the first thing you will see is the most popular games, followed by the simplest and most popular bets.

If you aren’t interested in the more technical and creative side of betting and just want to stick to the basics, Unibet makes it easy.

Prop Bets

However, if you go one step further and click into an individual game, you will find the prop bets. Depending on the sport, you can expect to find hundreds of props on offer.

For more niche sports you might not find many prop markets, but the likes of NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and soccer will have you scrolling all day.

Our experts were impressed with the level of detail available here. There were markets for rushing yards in NFL, rebounds in NBA, and betting on individual players to get yellow cards in soccer.

While it’s not quite at the very top of the line in terms of the number of prop bets on offer, Unibet is certainly above average.

Take a look at our in-depth guide on prop betting.

Live Betting

Unibet has a great live betting section, which works equally as well on the app as the web site. We liked the prominent tracker on the homepage, showing how many live events are available to bet on in real-time.

The section is well organized, with a menu at the top which allows you to cycle through the different sports with live events happening right now.

When you click into an individual game, you will find a graphic showing live updates and statistics from the game.

You aren’t restricted to basic bets in the live section either. In fact, Unibet allows what they call “Action Betting”, where you can bet on technical markets changing moment by moment – like who will win the next point in a tennis game.

See how Unibet compares to the other best live betting sites in the US.

Other Betting Options

Unibet allows futures bets on all the biggest competitions, like the winner of the Super Bowl or World Cup.

There are also great parlay and multi-betting options. The intelligent bet slip allows you to add selections and decide what kind of bet you want to place – parlays, round-robins, or more.

We love the “Bet Builder”, which is a tool that helps users design their own custom multi-bets for an individual game. It’s fun and interactive, and you can test out different bets before placing them.

Overall, we were happy with the betting menu at Unibet. There are lots of simple options for beginners to place their first bet, and loads of more exotic options to keep the sharps happy too.

Sports You Can Bet on at Unibet

We like to see variety in our sportsbooks, and Unibet matches its wide range of betting options with an impressive list of sports you can bet on.

The most popular sports are likely to be NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and soccer, but there are plenty more outside of them, both in the US and from around the world.

Check out the sports our experts found below.

Markets are added all the time as new competitions start, so you can expect this list to change over time.

Unibet is offering more and more sports to bet on. It started small but now you can find lots of both American and international sports to wager on.

Options for Deposits and Withdrawals at Unibet

The best sportsbooks make everything easy, and that includes getting your money in and out of your account.

In this section, we want to see lots of options, minimal or no transaction fees, and fast processing times. We’re happy to report that Unibet does well in all of these categories.

Since Unibet is fully licensed and regulated, you can also be sure that all of your transactions are protected and secure.

Signup and Registration

When it comes to signing up, we want the process to be as pain-free as possible.

During our tests, we found joining Unibet to be quick and easy. It’s just a matter of providing some basic information, and then you can start betting.

Don’t forget that when you sign up is your opportunity to claim a valuable welcome bonus. Use our sign up links to make sure you are getting the best Unibet bonus codes.

Signing up is easy, as you can see from our guide:

  1. The first step is to click on the yellow “Join Now” button on the homepage of the Unibet website or app.

  2. There are three sections to complete. The first step is to create your login details – your email address and your unique password.

  3. Once these have been confirmed, it’s time for your personal details – name, gender, and date of birth. Remember that all of this information is private and secure.

  4. Finally, you need to enter a few more details for security purposes and to confirm your identity. First, you will need to provide your full address, cell phone number, and possibly some digits from your SSN. Again, all of this information is protected and only required by Unibet to confirm your identity.

  5. You also need to create some security questions and answers, for extra security.

  6. Before finishing, you will have to check some boxes to confirm that you have read the terms and conditions, your identity is accurate and only you will use your account. To complete the process, click “Join”.

We had no issues with the sign-up process. Regardless of what online sportsbook you are joining, the process tends to be fairly similar. Unibet makes it as simple as possible.

Once you are signed up, you can head straight to the cashier to deposit and start betting.

Remember that you must be 21+ to bet. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem and wants help, call 1-800 GAMBLER.

Security and Gaming License

Legal sports betting arrived in New Jersey on May 2018, and with it came pretty sophisticated security requirements for new sportsbooks.

Unibet, like all legal sportsbooks, has received a license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. This means that Unibet is fully regulated and all transactions between you and the sportsbook are protected and secure.

In addition, Unibet comes with decades of experience in Europe, providing legal and secure sports betting to its customers.

During our tests and while conducting research for this review, we found no problems with Unibet from a security point of view. From your banking details to your personal information, you can rest assured that it handles all data professionally and privately.

Customer Support

You can bet that no matter how experienced a user is with online sportsbooks, there will always come a time when they require some help.

Our experts were generally satisfied with the customer support available from Unibet.

During our tests, the Help button sometimes appeared at the bottom of the page, but often did not. We think it’s a glitch in the software that will hopefully be sorted out.

Although hard to navigate to, we found the Help Center to be a useful resource. The page is organized into different categories, with a decent list of FAQs available for each.

When we couldn’t find the solution in the FAQs, it was time to contact Unibet directly. The best way to do this is via the Live Chat button which appears on the homepage, although there is also a phone line and email address.

The only downside here is that the customer service hours of operation are from 9 am-11 pm. We would love to see Unibet take its customer support to the next level with 24/7 service, and fix the Help button.

Things Unibet is Doing Right

We said it before, we found a lot to like about Unibet. The company has a lot of experience in the sports betting game and it has arrived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Arizona, and Virginia with a really professional and high-quality service.

Here are our highlights:

  • The platforms are really usable. The website looks great, is easy to navigate around, and makes placing bets fun and easy. The app makes everything fit on the smaller screen perfectly.

  • We love the live betting section, which is nicely structured to make it easy to cycle through the different options. The in-game updates are really helpful too.

  • The promotions we found were great – both interesting and valuable, and they change regularly for existing members. The welcome bonus might just be the best one in town.

  • The list of sports and betting options are more than competitive with other top sportsbooks on the market. We loved building our multi-bets using the Bet Builder tool.

  • No complaints about banking and payout options.

Things Unibet Could Work On

While overall we are big fans of Unibet, our experts did find a few areas that could be improved:

The customer service was fine, but not up to the high standards we found everywhere else on the site. We would like to see more prominence given to the Help Center on the homepage, a greater number of FAQs, and 24/7 support. It’s only a couple of tweaks away from being great.

It’s a small point, but the button to show stats in individual games didn’t always work for us. We weren’t sure if this was a glitch or that stats weren’t available for certain games. Whichever it is, either fix the link or don’t give us a clickable button that does nothing.

The list of sports available will more than enough for 95% of users. However, if you are looking for some super obscure sports you may be more likely to find them at other sportsbooks that specialize in a huge range of options.

Unibet Company History

Unibet is no newbie when it comes to sports betting. The brand has been one of the most recognizable names in Europe for years.

Unibet was created in 1997 in London, originally taking bets over the phone. The company then moved its headquarters to Malta where it was granted an international gambling license.

Over the years Unibet grew in prominence throughout Europe, and ten years after it was created the site was on its way to half a million users in over 100 countries.

As it continued to grow, Unibet acquired many of its European betting rivals including 32Red and Bingo.com. Under the name Kindred Group, the company currently consists of 11 brands that serve over 11 million customers around the world – with Unibet still the highest-profile of the brands.

Unibet was slower than a lot of its European counterparts to come to New Jersey after sports betting was legalized in June 2018. The company signed a deal with Hard Rock Casino Atlantic City and finally launched in the US on September 2019.

Unibet has later entered the sports betting scene in Pennsylvania by partnering with one of the most successful casinos in PA, the Mohegan Sun Pocono.

The Final Word on Unibet

As a latecomer to the sports betting options, Unibet really had to hit the ground running. Fortunately for them, our experts found enough positives to mean it should have no problem attracting new members.

Unibet sportsbook is strong across the board.

Both the app and the website work really well. Unibet is just as usable on your mobile device as on your laptop. In-play betting is easy and exciting, and the Bet Slip is great for structuring custom bets.

The range of betting options and sports is more than satisfactory, and there are plenty of banking options.

Little touches like the Bet Builder for multi-bets or the Action Betting for the in-play section really help to separate Unibet from the competition.

The lowest score we gave Unibet was for customer support, which is not bad by any means but is also not the best that we have experienced. With 24/7 support, a more comprehensive FAQs list, and the tidying up of a couple of glitches, we truly would not be able to find anything to criticize.

Overall, our experts found Unibet to be one of the best all-round sportsbooks on the market.

If you like the sound of it, make sure you use our links when you sign up to get hooked up with the best welcome bonus.
