Manchester City’s Ambition Is to Lift the Club World Cup Trophy

Manchester City ran out 2-0 winners against Wydad AC in their first game of the Club World Cup. First-half goals from Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku gave Pep Guardiola’s side a healthy lead, and although Rico Lewis was sent off late on, City were never really troubled by their Moroccan opponents.

City’s objective now is to secure their place in the round of 16, which they would do with a win here as long as Juventus have beaten Wydad earlier in the day. Guardiola’s team are going through a rebuild but they are still right up there among the leading contenders to claim the prize this summer.

"We have the second one to try to arrive in the last game as qualified - then the last game to define if we're first [in the group," Guardiola said after the Wydad win. “We'll recover, train good in the next few days and then have fresh legs for the next game.”

Al Ain Out to Bounce Back from Juventus Defeat Last Time Out

Al Ain were always going to be underdogs against Juventus, but a 5-0 defeat was obviously much worse than they wanted. The sole representatives from the United Arab Emirates were outclassed by their Italian opponents, who showed no mercy at Audi Field in Washington D.C.

Of course Al Ain will be aiming to bounce back on Sunday, but they have to be realistic at the same time.

Indeed, it will be tough for Al Ain to get anything from this meeting with Manchester City, who have every incentive to go all-out for three points while also improving their goal differential.

Hard to Look Past a One-Sided Encounter on Sunday Evening

Al Ain were taken apart by Juventus last time out and they will be desperate to avoid a repeat, but that may well be out of their control.

Manchester City will aim to win big this weekend as they attempt to secure top spot in the group. They could also do with a handsome victory to provide a morale-booster of sorts.

We think City can win this match by three clear goals or more. Go for a -2.5 Asian handicap against Al Ain.
