CONCACAF powerhouse Mexico will be looking to make some noise in this year's edition of the Copa America where in the past they have had some bright moments. El Tri has a massive rabid fan base in America where this competition will be played, could arguably say they will have a home-pitch advantage whenever they take the field. Mexico does find itself in a bit of a transition cycling younger players through the national program. In 2024 El Tri played five matches leading up to the Copa America, and have been defeated a total of three times, including suffering back-to-back setbacks to Copa America 2024 favorites Uruguay and Brazil in a pair of friendlies in early June.
bet365 has Mexico pegged to win Group B, but closely behind Ecuador has more than a puncher's chance to topple the favorites. To qualify for the knockout stage, Mexico is priced at -400 to do so. With Venezuela and Jamaica in their group, Mexico should be able to collect maximum points from those fixtures and that will be enough to get them to the next stage of the tournament. For the Mexican federation, anything less than a semi-final appearance will be seen as a disappointment. Mexico’s squad has plenty of talent at each position, at worst think El Tri will get out of the group stage and either fail to win their quarterfinal or semifinal encounter.

bet365 has Mexico pegged to win Group B, but closely behind Ecuador has more than a puncher's chance to topple the favorites. To qualify for the knockout stage, Mexico opening price was at -450, but after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Venezuela, the current odds have shifted to +150. With Venezuela and Jamaica in their group, Mexico should of been able to collect maximum points from those fixtures but only collected three out of a possible six. For the Mexican federation, anything less than a semi-final appearance will be seen as a disappointment. Mexico’s squad has plenty of talent at each position, at worst think El Tri will get out of the group stage and either fail to win their quarterfinal or semifinal encounter.
bet365 was given Mexico the fourth lowest odds to capture this edition of the Copa America listed at +1100 at the start of the tournament. Currently sitting with three points after two matches their odds have increased to +2200. Being serial winners in their confederation, Mexico has that championship pedigree. Facing stiffer competition Mexico still boasts enough talent and a pinch of luck could see Mexico hoisting the title on July 14.
Bet on Mexico to Win Copa America at bet365
Gerardo Arteaga +150 at bet365
One of El Tri’s unlikeliest top scorer in the Copa America is the left-back who plays his club soccer with Monterrey. Through two affairs in this year’s edition of the tournament, Arteaga is Mexico’s lone goal scorer which came against Jamacia. In 25 international caps with his national team, the 25-year-old has bagged two goals.
Santiago Gimenez +300 at bet365
El Tri starlet Santiago Gimenez is the leading candidate to finish as top scorer for his nation. The 23-year-old has polished two solid years in a row in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord. In 86 career games the striker has found the back of the net 49 times and in the 2023-24 campaign Gimenez finished third overall in the league in scoring. His national side appearances statistics haven’t been as lights out through 27 international caps he has only secured four goals.
Uriel Antuna +800 at bet365 (opened at +650)
Between the Liga MX Apertura and Clausura season, the Cruz Azul forward put together a nice campaign. Antuna in 37 Liga MX matches in 2023-24 had 20 goal contributions including leading his club in the goals department with nine in the most recent Clausura campaign. With El Tri he’s amassed 14 goals in 62 appearances, making him the highest-scoring active player to be added to the Copa America roster. In his last six call-ups with Mexico, the 26-year-old has failed to hit the score sheet.
Guillermo Martinez +1000 at bet365 (opened at +800)
Late in his career Martinez finally got the call to represent his country in 2023 as the 29-year-old striker has the potential to finish as El Tri's top scorer. The Pumas product had a lethal year bagging goals past the goalkeepers as he notched 18 goals in his last 38 Liga MX affairs with Pumas and Puebla. In three appearances with his home nation, Martinez has hit the back of the net on two occasions. His most recent outing saw him make an instant impact as a late substitute. His 89th-minute appearance in a friendly match saw him collect a goal on two shots taken in a losing effort versus Brazil.
Bet on Mexico Team Top Scorer at bet365
Mexico is tasked with some tricky confrontations facing Jamaica and Ecuador in their group. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Mexico were to top Group B or finish as runners-up since recently Mexico has dropped matches where they weren’t supposed to. Historically Mexico has enjoyed successful results over all three teams in their group, making them on paper the odds-on favorite to finish first and the various books don’t disagree.
Bet on Mexico as Group B Winner at bet365
Stage of Elimination - Semifinals +375 at bet365
Mexico is favored to finish atop Group B, which in the Quarterfinals will face the Group A runner-up. Upsets do happen but the most likely scenario is Argentina will finish first in their group leaving Mexico to either play Chile, Peru, or the least likely opponent Canada. Mexico is more than capable of beating these sides, leading them to the semi-finals where they could clash with Argentina. Trying to stop Messi and Co will be troublesome for El Tri.
Mexico Top Goal Scorer Santiago Gimenez +200 at bet365
Rumors are running wild, especially at this time of the offseason, and Gimenez is linked to various clubs abroad in Europe’s top five leagues. This could be his coming out party and with successful tournament will mean more money to his bank account. Gimenez has a well-built resume with team and personal awards, he is hailed as the next great striker for Mexico, with his current odds and being the team's most lethal player, it’s not a bad choice to wager on Gimenez.
Mexico Top Goal Scorer Julián Quiñones +800 at bet365
Finishing the club season in style with a championship with Club America, Quiñones has nice odds to back him as El Tri's top goal scorer. In all 52 competitive matches played the 27-year-old accumulated 23 goals in 2023-24. In three straight seasons, he has been able to reach double digits in the goals category, making him a solid long-shot candidate.
