MLB Best Bets Today: Brewers vs. Astros (8:10 PM EST)
Brewers ML (-112) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Milwaukee has consistently been one of the best teams in baseball and currently leads the NL Central. Houston got off to one of the worst starts in the league but is coming off a consecutive series win, just the second time that has happened in 2024. While both teams have been hot over the last week, we see the Brewers getting a road win tonight.
One reason for this is Milwaukee’s impressive lineup. They rank fourth in the league in batting average (.259) and home runs (55) while ranking third in runs scored (223). Those numbers have only improved since the return of Christian Yelich. The former NL MVP returned from a back injury and has continued to swing the bat well. He is slotted third in the lineup, giving William Contreras (.359 BA) more protection in the lineup. Combine that with a vastly improved Willy Adames and a breakout campaign from Bryce Turang, and you can see why they are putting up such impressive numbers.
The Milwaukee lineup is set up for another big night with Hunter Brown (0-4, 7.79 ERA) on the mound for Houston. The team hopes the 25-year-old will be a staple in their rotation for years to come, but he has struggled to adjust to the big-league level. He is coming off of his strongest effort, which came against a Tigers team hitting nowhere near as well as the Brew Crew.
The Brewers will have Freddy Peralta (3-1, 3.63 ERA) starting opposite Brown tonight. We have concerns over the ace’s control, as he has walked 5+ batters in two of his previous four starts. While the run totals haven’t been bad, the amount of baserunners suggests that won’t last. Even if he is off again today, Peralta can still do enough to support an impressive outing from their offense.

MLB Best Bets Today: Tigers vs. Diamondbacks (9:40 PM EST)
Tigers ML (-142) at FanDuel Sportsbook
The Tigers have cooled off significantly after a surprising start. They have lost nine of their previous games, including two of three against the lowly Marlins. There are some issues that will prevent them from being a true playoff contender in the AL Central, but we love their chances to get a win tonight with Tarik Skubal (5-0, 2.02 ERA) on the mound.
Skubal has gone from reliable to ace in 2024. His impressive numbers have led him to register seven quality starts in eight games. While he has received plenty of run support in those games, he hasn’t needed them and won’t again tonight. With Ryne Nelson (2-2, 5.33 ERA) on the mound for Arizona.
Nelson had a disappointing rookie campaign in 2023, and things haven’t improved in his sophomore season. His ERA is almost identical, but his WHIP has skyrocketed to 1.70. Even in his best starts, the young righty allows far too many baserunners. That gives mediocre offenses like Detroit a chance to do damage, which is precisely what will happen tonight.
