The Brewers clinched the NL Central last week, and they will add another win to their record tonight. That is largely because of tonight’s pitching matchup, where the Crew will own a massive advantage.
Milwaukee will have Tobias Myers (8-6, 3.05 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) on the mound in Pittsburgh tonight. The 26-year-old rookie has been fantastic for the Brewers and will likely be one of their key starters in the playoffs. While he has struggled a bit more in September, that is mostly due to two tough starts against Arizona. Expect him to bounce back against a far easier opponent tonight.
Myers will be facing a Pirates team he has dominated this season. He has faced them twice this season, posting a 0.69 ERA over 13 innings. Considering the team ranks in the bottom ten of the league in runs scored and batting average, don’t expect a different result tonight.
The Pirates will have Bailey Falter (8-8. 4.15 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) starting opposite Myers. The lefty starter the season strong for Pittsburgh, but he regressed badly over September. While he has a 2.50 ERA across three starts this month, primarily due to a stellar outing against a bad Marlins team.
Falter will face a far more challenging opponent tonight. The Brewers continue to be one of the best offenses in baseball now that Jackson Chourio has broken out. Falter may not get shelled, but he certainly won’t be able to match the performance of Myers and a fantastic Milwaukee bullpen.

The Tigers have far outperformed expectations in 2024, even after dealing away Jack Flaherty to the Dodgers. A big reason for their success will be on the mound tonight in Tarik Skubal (17-4, 2.48 ERA, 0.94 WHIP). The ace is arguably the top pitcher in the league this season, and he will deliver another gem for Detroit tonight.
Skubal will face a bad Tampa lineup tonight, which is hitting just .125 against him. The left has been especially great at home, going 9-1 with a 2.13 ERA on the season. Once he exits the game, he’ll turn things over to a bullpen that ranks fourth in the league in ERA.
Tampa has been one of the worst offensive teams in baseball this season. They rank twenty-seventh in batting average and twenty-ninth in runs scored. While they are one of the best base-stealing teams in the league, their inability to get runners on base has negated that advantage.
Ryan Pepiot (8-6, 3.64 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) will be on the bump for the Rays. The former Dodgers had a mixed first season with the Rays, and they spent a good chunk of it on the IL. While the righty was lights out against the Red Sox in his last start, consistency has been something that has eluded the 27-year-old, making it unlikely that momentum will carry into tonight.
