The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees will battle in the game of the day on Monday. New York and Philadelphia are two of the most talented teams in baseball, so it can be slightly hard to predict which club will win.
However, we’re riding with the Phillies on Monday because they have one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound, Zack Wheeler. Wheeler has been fantastic in 2024 and has helped the Phillies maintain a solid lead in the NL East.
Wheeler is also one favorites in the Cy Young award market. He is 10-4 on the season with a 2.55 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP. Over 123.2 innings, he has allowed just 84 hits and accumulated 133 strikeouts.
The biggest key for Philadelphia will be Bryce Harper’s hitting. Harper has just one hit in his past four games. This hit resulted in a home run in the team’s 8-0 win against the Guardians.
While the Phillies have a lot of talent, Harper is the offensive leader and needs to improve. If he hits, it should spark the entire offense, resulting in a Phillies victory.

The Houston Astros struggled early in the season, but they have rebounded. The team has been one of the better teams in baseball over the past month, and it has led to them finding their spot at the top of the AL West.
Despite Houston’s surge, we’re fading them on Monday against Paul Skenes and the Pirates. Skenes is in line to win the Cy Young in his first MLB season and has been dominant all season.
Skenes is 6-1 with a 1.93 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP. He has allowed just 52 hits in 74.2 innings with 97 strikeouts. Skenes still has flaws, but he has been nearly untouchable all year.
We expect him to continue his dominance on Monday. Jake Bloss has been horrendous for the Astros in his short time on the mound. Bloss is 0-1 with a 6.94 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP.
Bet on Pirates ML (-158) at FanDuel
The Royals have lost four of their past five games. However, they’re facing one of the worst teams in baseball on Monday. The White Sox are 17-37 at home this season and 27-81 overall.
Chicago is loaded with losing players who have given up in 2024. Alec Marsh will be tasked with continuing to suck the life out of Chicago.
He is 7-7 with a 4.75 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. He has not been great this season, but the White Sox are a terrible team.
Chicago is struggling to get through the next few months. They also don’t have a solid pitcher on the mound in Chris Flexen. Flexen has been an innings eater, but he has a 5.25 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP.
