Best MLB Prop Bets 2024 05 21

On Monday, we started the week with a profit of over one unit. Part of the key was targeting several picks with plus odds, so we’re going to stick with that strategy on Tuesday. For whatever reason, most of our MLB props for Tuesday involve hitters failing. That’s just how things turned out, but we feel confident in our success, even if it comes at the expense of hitters. The odds we’re using are from DraftKings Sportsbook, which is giving new users a No Sweat First Bet up to $1,500.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Giants vs. Pirates (6:40 PM, EST)

Oneil Cruz Over 1.5 Strikeouts (+165) at DraftKings

We don’t often bet on hitters to strike out, but Cruz is one of the coldest hitters in baseball right now. He has just two hits in his last 21 at-bats and has struck out 10 times during that stretch. As a result, Cruz has struck out multiple times in four of his last five games. That makes us think that there is good value in betting that the trend will continue. He’s also 1 for 3 with a strikeout in his brief career against San Francisco starter Logan Webb, who is a talented pitcher and can make sure Cruz keeps swinging and missing.

Logan Webb Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-165) at DraftKings

Naturally, we’re also going to back Webb to collect at least five strikeouts in Tuesday’s game. Usually, Webb is more about making weak contact, but he’s amassed at least five strikeouts in three straight games, including two games when he reached six strikeouts. He did that against some quality offensive teams like the Dodgers and Phillies, so he should continue to have success against the Pirates, who rank fourth in the big leagues in strikeouts. That should make this a relatively safe bet.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Rangers vs. Phillies (6:40 PM, EST)

Ranger Suarez Under 5.5 Hits (+110) at DraftKings

Suarez is another pitcher we think will have a strong appearance on Tuesday. He’s facing a Texas lineup that’s been shut out twice in the last six games and has been limited to three runs or less in seven of the last nine games. Suarez also has a strong track record against most of the Rangers he’s faced before. The lefty has also been the crown jewel of Philly’s rotation this year, going 8-0 with a 1.37 ERA. Despite his propensity for going deep in games this season, Suarez has held opposing lineups to four hits or less in seven of his nine starts. He has even more leeway with the over/under at 5.5 hits, making this an obvious prop pick for us.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Red Sox vs. Rays (6:50 PM, EST)

Jarren Duran Over 0.5 Runs (+100) at DraftKings

Duran is a leadoff hitter with speed, making him an ideal choice to score a run, especially with a red-hot Rafael Devers hitting a few spots behind him. Duran has a six-game hitting streak, collecting nine hits and two walks during that stretch, helping him to score five runs in those six games. He’s also 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles in his career against Tampa starter Zack Littell. In other words, we think Duran is going to get on base, allowing a Boston lineup that’s scored at least five runs in four of its last five games to do the rest.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Tigers vs. Royals (7:40 PM, EST)

Salvador Perez Over 0.5 RBI (+105) at DraftKings

Perez ranks fourth in the majors in RBI this year, yet we’re still getting plus odds for him to drive in a run on Tuesday. Over his last four games, Perez is 8 for 15 with 5 RBI, so we could back him on a variety of prop bets. The kicker is that Perez is 9 for 21 with three extra-base hits and 5 RBI in his career against Detroit starter Casey Mize. Plus, with Bobby Witt two spots ahead of him, Perez frequently has RBI opportunities.
