Best MLB Prop Bets Today May 28

If Wednesday’s MLB props were a rock concert, they’d be filled with deep tracks and B-sides. We aren’t exactly targeting the biggest stars or players you might expect would be a safe bet to succeed. However, we’ve taken a deeper look at Wednesday’s game and found some surprising prop bets with good value.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Red Sox vs. Brewers (1:10 PM, EST)

Freddy Peralta Over 6.5 Strikeouts

The Red Sox continue to be one of the league leaders in strikeouts, so taking the over for any starting pitcher who’s facing them isn’t a bad bet. Peralta, to be fair, has been a little up and down with his strikeout totals this season. But when he’s on his game, Peralta can rack up a lot of strikeouts in a hurry. Wednesday is a favorable situation for him because the Red Sox strike out a lot, and most of Boston’s lineup has little experience facing him. Also, Peralta has been far more effective when pitching day games, averaging over a strikeout per inning, which is why he’s poised for one of his highest strikeout totals of the season.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Pirates vs. Diamondbacks (3:40 PM, EST)

Adam Frazier 2+ Total Bases

It’d be easy to play it safe by betting on Frazier to get a hit, which has -170 odds. But we’re going to take the aggressive approach and bet on Frazier to collect multiple bases on Wednesday. In his career, he’s 3 for 6 against Arizona starter Zac Gallen, who has been awful in his last three starts, causing his ERA to climb to 5.25. At the same time, Frazier has begun to catch fire. Before going hitless on Tuesday, Frazier went over 1.5 total bases in five of his previous seven games. During that stretch, he has three doubles and four multi-hit games, so now is the right time to target Frazier because he’s found his groove and has a favorable match against Gallen.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Cardinals vs. Orioles (6:35 PM, EST)

Miles Mikolas Under 2.5 ER

We would have gladly bet on Mikolas to allow 1.5 earned runs or fewer in this game, but we’ll gladly accept these odds and the extra wiggle room. He’s pitched to a 2.01 ERA over his four starts in May, giving up one run or fewer in three of those four starts. Going back even further, Mikolas has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts, completely turning around his season. Before that stretch, his ERA was 9.00, and now it’s 3.51. Most of Baltimore’s lineup has never faced him before, which puts Mikolas in an advantageous position that should allow him to keep giving the Cardinals quality starts.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Yankees vs. Angels (9:38 PM, EST)

Yusei Kikuchi Over 2.5 Walks

Walks have been a huge issue for Kikuchi all season. It looked like he had gotten past his control issues earlier this month. However, he’s issued four walks in back-to-back starts. Kikuchi has now walked at least three batters in six of his 11 starts this season. In his defense, he’s allowed just one run over his last two starts despite walking eight total batters. But whether those walks come back to hurt him or not, Kikuchi is bound to walk several batters on Wednesday. The Yankees lead the majors in walks, averaging just over four per game. Given Kikuchi’s season, they’re likely to draw plenty of free passes against the lefty.

Yoan Moncada Over 0.5 Hits

Moncada’s .222 average doesn’t make him an obvious target for prop bets. However, he’s 3 for 4 in his career against Clarke Schmidt, who starts for the Yankees on Wednesday. While that’s a small sample size, it’s enough to take a closer look at Moncada. In 19 games this month, Moncada has at least one hit in 13 of them, which makes -140 odds to get a single hit quite lucrative. Moncada also hit a home run on Tuesday, so he should be confident heading into Wednesday’s game, especially when he sees Schmidt on the mound.
