First up in our MLB prop bets of the day for Friday is for Charlie Morton to pick up the win when the Atlanta Braves take on the Chicago White Sox. These games are separated by over 20 games after the first half of the season, and the Braves have a huge advantage over Chicago in their first game after the All-Star break. Morton should benefit from that advantage and should be able to pick up the win in his first start of the second half of the year.
Morton was one of the best pitchers in baseball leading up to the All-Star break for the Braves. He had won four straight starts going into the break, and has not lost a start since June 2, when he lost a 3-2 decision to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Morton has not allowed more than three runs in a start in over a month, and he should be able to shut down the White Sox in this game as well.
On top of Morton’s high-level pitching of late, the Braves should be able to give Morton plenty of run support in this contest. Atlanta faces a pitcher in Michael Kopech who has an ERA over 4.00 on the season. Atlanta should give Morton a chance to get the win here, and Morton will take full advantage of that chance. The game of the night in Major League Baseball is the contest between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets. Not only are both of these teams loaded with talent, but we are treated to a great pitching matchup in this game between Julio Urias and Justin Verlander. In this game, expect Verlander to go under his total of 5.5 strikeouts against a Dodgers lineup that is so hard to hold down for a full game.
So far this season, Verlander has struck out five or fewer batters in eight of his 12 outings so far this season. On top of those numbers that are favorable to the under, Verlander is facing a Dodgers lineup that is so dangerous in this contest. That could mean a shorter night than usual for Verlander, which could mean fewer strikeouts than normal if his pitch count is run up over a shorter period of time than usual.
Los Angeles also does not strike out an excessive amount, which works in the favor of this under wager. The Dodgers are in the middle of the pack in the major leagues in strikeouts per game, averaging 8.8 strikeouts per nine innings. But there is very little chance that Verlander goes too deep into this game to go over that 5.5 strikeout mark, as we should see this under cash without much trouble.

Finally, we will take a plus money prop to close out our card of MLB prop bets for Friday night. Luis Arraez has been one of the biggest stories in baseball this season, as his batting average has been the best in baseball throughout the 2023 campaign. In this game against the Baltimore Orioles, expect Arraez to hit at least two singles, picking up where he left off before the All-Star break took place.
The reason that it is worth betting in two singles specifically, rather than just two or more hits, is that extra-base hits are not a huge concern when betting on Arraez player props. This season, Arraez has just 22 extra-base hits out of his 126 total hits for the season. From a percentage perspective, that means that 83% of Arraez’s hits this year have been singles, and that trend should continue in this game.
Arraez has seen his hitting pace slow down in the month of July, as he is only batting .324 for the month. But the All-Star break could be just what he needed to get himself back on track, especially after going 2-2 with two singles in the All-Star Game.
