Negative regression looms large over the Philadelphia Phillies star studded offense as they are set to face off against Framber Valdez who excels at avoiding contact. Shortly before their opening pitch, we turn our attention towards the Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers for the second night in a row as another pair of productive arms are set to take the mound.

Even though the Houston Astros are in first place in the AL West, their offense has struggled to provide them the production they need to be a well rounded unit. Especially in regard to scoring as the Astros offense ranks below league average in RBIs and in Total Runs Scored. Their aggression hurts their chances of getting into scoring position as the Astros also rank 23rd overall in Bases on Walks.
Unfortunately for Houston, their struggles on offense are poised to persist as they are set to face off against Ranger Suarez who has been dominant this season. In his nine starts, Suarez is averaging an ERA of 2.20, a FIP of 2.72, and a WHIP of 1.064. His back end also excels in coverage which helps reduce the amount of contact variance in his starts as the Phillies rank third overall in Fielding Percentage.
On the other side of the field, the Phillies will struggle to sustain their high level of play on offense with Framber Valdez set to take the mound as the Astros pitcher generates Whiffs at a high rate. As of writing, Valdez is averaging less than one Hit Against and more than one Strikeout per Inning Pitched. With both pitchers in a position to thrive, expect no runs to be scored in the first inning.

After struggling to find their footing earlier in the year, the Milwaukee Brewers have started to climb back up the NL Central division standings due to their turnaround on offense. While the Brewers have managed to score at a more consistent rate, their lineup still struggles with generating Hits as their offense ranks 17th overall in Contact Rate and 16th in Strikeout Rate.
Against Pittsburgh, expect the Brewers to continue to struggle with making contact as they face off against Andrew Heaney who averages less than one Hit Allowed per Inning Pitched, an ERA of 3.94, and a WHIP of 1.190. Pittsburgh’s back end have also drastically elevated their level of play this season after severely underwhelming last year as the Pirates rank fifth in Defensive Efficiency.
While the Pirates defense have managed to round back into competitive form, their offense has failed to follow suit as their lineup ranks near the bottom of the board in Contact Rate, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and in On Base Percentage. Against Freddy Peralta, expect the Pirates to continue to underwhelm as the Brewers ace enters the contest averaging an ERA of 2.76, a WHIP of 1.114, and a FIP of 3.98.

Miami Marlins vs. San Francisco Giants - Cal Quantrill vs. Justin Verlander - The Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants top of their orders have the opportunity to get off to a hot start on Tuesday night as they are set to battle it out against a pair of pitchers who average nearly two runners on base per inning and a FIP higher than 4.00.
