In spite of LAFC earning a loss earlier this week against the Portland Timbers, they justifiably remain the favorites here.
Literally seconds away from a crucial away draw, they were incredibly close to stretching their unbeaten streak to four games on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, they should get back to their winning ways at home.
Up against a Vancouver Whitecaps squad who have yet to make much of a splash this season, LAFC should have no issues earning what could be their fourth victory of the month. Vancouver won’t be much of a threat, pick LAFC for the win this Saturday.

For those who are a bit skeptical about LAFC’s latest 2-1 away loss to Portland on Wednesday, let’s take a look back at the performance.
LAFC finished with more possession, more shots — and according to stats from FiveThirtyEight — they also earned a higher rating for shot-based xG (expected goals) and non-shot xG.
Regardless of the fact that Portland are obviously worthy victors after claiming a dramatic game-winner in the 93rd minute, it’s still fair to give credit to LAFC for nearly claiming an away tie.
If they had held on for just literally one minute longer, LAFC would have maintained their undefeated streak that initially started with three consecutive wins this month.
It’s fair to not only praise Portland for earning three well-deserved points against LAFC, but to also highlight LAFC for what they have accomplished so far in July.
No longer the team from May that lacked a serious amount of energy or drive, LAFC have quickly turned things around with help from a reinvigorated Carlos Vela in the attack.
Even though the latest defeat likely hurt, there are countless teams in the league who would be thrilled with three wins in four matches.
Either way, LAFC can’t be taken lightly anymore.
Little by little they’re climbing up the league table, and even with the loss in hand, they aren’t too far behind other teams in the Western Conference table.
As for their opponents who have lots of ground to make up for…
Outside of a 2-1 win on July 17th against the LA Galaxy — who were missing a handful of starters — there hasn’t been too much excitement about the Whitecaps.
Especially when you consider that the victory is their only one in their last 10 games.
In their most recent match, a 0-0 draw with the Houston Dynamo, Vancouver couldn’t find a single shot on target in the entirety of the 90 minutes — and yes, hitting the woodwork doesn’t count.
And even after their latest surprise win and dull draw, their goal differential of -9 remains as one of the worst in MLS.
After returning on loan from Spain, Brian Rodriguez stepped onto the pitch this week for LAFC for the first time in 2021.
It was only a late cameo in the loss to the Timbers, but it was a promising one as the young Uruguayan buzzed around and immediately created chances in the final 10 or so minutes.
With Rodriguez back in the mix, and Vela stepping up with two goals and an assist in his last three games, LAFC are only going to get stronger from here.
If both start alongside each other this Saturday, we could see the return/creation of a lethal partnership in the final third.
Rodriguez might be eager to face Vancouver as well.
The last time he played them in late 2020, the winger was arguably the man of the match for LAFC in a 6-0 defeat of the Whitecaps.
