Favorites to Win the 2019 CTECH Manufacturing 180

Austin Cindric

Coming off two wins in the two road course races, Austin Cindric is the early favorite.

After going winless as a rookie in 2018, the Team Penske driver finally found his way into victory lane.

It happened at Watkins Glen three weeks ago.

He then followed it up with a second win the following round at Mid-Ohio.

His hot streak continued with a pole-position and a solid fifth place finish at Bristol last weekend.

Cindric retired with mechanical issues while leading last year’s race at Road America.

A trouble-free run this time around could mean another win for the Team Penske driver.

Cindric is fifth in the standings, having scored nine top 5 and 16 top 10 finishes in 22 starts.

Justin Allgaier

Next up is Justin Allgaier, who won last year’s edition of the race.

The veteran driver is one of the strongest road course racers in the series.

Allgaier’s three career wins at road courses are the most among the regular season drivers.

He came close to winning at Road America in 2011, running out of fuel going into the final lap.

The JR Motorsports driver finished third at Watkins Glen and sixth at Mid-Ohio this season.

Allgaier is still winless in 2019, one year after scoring a career-high five victories.

He is currently fourth in points with nine top 5 and 14 top 10 finishes.

A.J. Allmendinger

A.J. Allmendinger, another past winner at Road America, is a once again a strong contender.

Even after retiring from full-time competition, the former Cup Series driver and Champ Car star remains fast at road courses.

Allmendinger scored his first career win in NASCAR at Road America back in 2013.

He also scored one win in the Champ Car Series.

Allmendinger hasn’t finished lower than third on track in three starts this season.

However, the Kaulig Racing driver got disqualified at Daytona and Watkins Glen.

If he manages to avoid the post-race issues, Allmendinger will likely be in contention for the win.

Outside Picks For the 2019 CTECH Manufacturing 180

Matt DiBenedetto

Man of the moment Matt DiBenedetto will make his first Xfinity Series start since 2016.

The rising Cup Series star made headlines this past week after learning that he will be without a ride for 2020.

Despite the news, he followed it up with a career-high second place at Bristol last weekend.

DiBenedetto is having a breakout season in the top division.

He will be back with Joe Gibbs Racing, having been part of the team’s development program early in his career.

The fan favorite driver will have some additional motivation this weekend.

A good showing at Road America could lead to a racing seat next season.

DiBenedetto finished fourth at Sonoma and sixth at Watkins Glen in the Cup Series.

Christopher Bell

Christopher Bell saw his streak of five top 2 finishes come to an end after an early crash at Bristol.

The Joe Gibbs driver finished second at Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio, leading a total of 18 laps.

Already lined up for a Cup Series in 2020, Bell will try to crown his Xfinity Series career with a championship.

His five wins this season are tied for the series’ lead.

Bell is currently second in the standings with 14 top 5 and 15 top 10 finishes in 22 races.

Cole Custer

Cole Custer started from the front row at Road America last year and finished fourth.

It was – and still is – his best result at a road course in the Xfinity Series.

After a solid run of two wins and two second place finishes in five races, Custer is now at four consecutive starts without a top 5.

That being said, he did score two solid top 10 finishes at both Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio.

Custer has not finished lower than eighth in his last seven starts at road courses in the Xfinity Series.

His first win could very well be on the cards for Road America.

The Stewart-Haas driver is third in the standings with five wins, 11 top 5 and 14 top 10 finishes.
