How Can the Sixers Beat the Nets?

The Sixers are coming off of a tight victory over the Toronto Raptors. Despite having a distinct advantage in personnel, their defensive struggles kept Toronto in the game for too long.

When Philadelphia face off against Brooklyn, they can’t afford to let their opponents get going from the field. With one of the league’s best passing units, the Nets are uniquely equipped to deal with Philadelphia’s pressure defence.

Philly allowed the Raptors to hit 15 three-pointers in their last game. If they’re as passive with their defense against the Nets in this match, the Sixers will be out of the running early.

Sixers Key Player: (F) Tobias Harris

While the Sixers have been thriving off of the brilliant play of Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris has been trying his best to make an impact on the court.

In his last game, a win over the Toronto Raptors, Harris posted a 19-point, 12 rebounds, and 10 assist triple-double. He was dreadful from the field, shooting 3 of 12, but made up for it by getting to the free-throw line 14 times.

Harris needs to be more efficient from the field for the Sixers to beat the Nets. It’s good that he can contribute in other ways, but in terms of scoring, he is second only to Joel Embiid on this team.

How Can the Nets Beat the Sixers?

The Brooklyn Nets would probably be considered a finesse team. But when they take on the Sixers, it’ll be a full team effort to take down a team that runs itself through one of the league’s most dominant forces in the paint.

While they aren’t one of the league’s most prolific rebounding teams, the Sixers can dominate the paint battle through Joel Embiid alone. The Nets show some encouraging signs regarding their own ability on the glass though, as they outrebounded the gritty Clippers 47 to 45 in their last game.

We aren’t saying that Nic Claxton is a match for Joel Embiid one-on-one, but the Nets have shown a group mentality toward their shortcomings that should aid them in their paint battle against Philadelphia.

Nets Key Player: (G) James Harden

The Brooklyn Nets were in a tight spot regarding health and safety protocols, but the return of James Harden has seen the Nets soar above some of the best teams in the NBA.

In his last game, a win over the LA Clippers, Harden posted 39 points, 15 assists, and 8 rebounds in 40 minutes of play. He was scorching from the field, hitting 15 of 25 shot and 4 of 9 three-point field goal attempts.

Harden’s play opens up opportunities for every one of his teammates. If he can get his offence going early, the Nets can take one from their Eastern Conference rivals.
