76ers vs Trail Blazers Predictions and Picks
The Sixers’ stellar defense will be the key against the Portland Trail Blazers. Unless Portland can get contributions across the board, Lillard and McCollum won’t be enough to overcome the Eastern Conference leaders.

Philly Must Continue to Defend the Three
The Sixers are a versatile defensive team, with capable stoppers at every position. From Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to Matisse Thybulle and Dwight Howard, the Sixers have a defensive impact in every lineup.
Where Philly will find success against the Blazers is by defending the three-point line. Ranked second in three-pointers made per game, while also ranking eighth in three-point percentage, the Blazers prefer to attack from the perimeter.
After holding the Kings to 33.3% from three in their last match, the Sixers are on a positive trend. The Blazers have much more threatening options from deep though, so the Sixer’s wings will be depended upon to keep up with runners all game.

Portland Must Win the Battle on the Glass
The Portland Trail Blazers have the advantage in terms of perimeter scoring, however, it will be up to them as a team to compete with the Sixers on the glass.
Despite lacking Jusuf Nurkic, the Trail Blazers are currently ranked 13th overall in rebounds per game at 44.5. Unfortunately, they also give up a ton of rebounds, 46.8 per game, which is good enough for 25th in the league.
For all of their talent from range, the Blazers need to establish a presence in the paint to compete with the Sixers. If they can’t, they’ll have a tough time keeping up with the Sixers’ attack.
Sixers Key Player: (C) Joel Embiid
On repeat.

An early candidate for the Most Valuable Player award, Joel Embiid has been consistent through his stellar play all season. Against the interior-averse Blazers, Embiid could thrive.
In his last game against the Kings, Embiid posted 25 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists, to go along with two steals and two blocks.
Embiid will have a tougher challenge with Enes Kanter opposing him, but with Jusuf Nurkic out Embiid and the Sixers should have the advantage inside.
Blazers Key Player: (F) Robert Covington
Just watch LeBron’s defense on this sequence, pulls in from the weakside and gets the steal, the Lakers turnover it over in transition, then strips McCollum when they trap the PnR and he gets the dunk out of it. pic.twitter.com/mfcyDXFrc9

The Blazers know what they’ll be receiving from Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, but new man Robert Covington can be a real game changer against the Sixers.
In his last match against the Magic, Covington contributed 11 rebounds, to go along with five points, four assists, a steal, and two blocks.
Covington is a defensive Swiss army knife, capable of making up for their shortcomings on the boards and guarding one through four in a pinch. If he can find more consistency shooting the ball, Covington could be Portland’s key to victory.
