The NBA follow up an incredible trade deadline Thursday with a jam-packed Friday night schedule with 11 games set for the evening.
Opening the night is a matchup between two of the bottom-ranking teams in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons. In inter-conference play, the Utah Jazz take on the Toronto Raptors. And in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Portland Trail Blazers!

The San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons may be two of the weaker teams in the NBA, but they're set up to put on one of the more interesting games on the night. The Spurs are currently 14th in the Western Conference with a 14-41 overall record and a 5-20 road record. The Pistons are sitting at last in the Eastern Conference with a 14-42 overall record and a 7-21 home record.
San Antonio are an up-tempo, gritty but organized offensive team that average 27.1 assists per game (3rd in the NBA), 11.8 offensive rebounds per game (8th in the NBA), and 32.6 two-point field goals per game (3rd in the NBA). Unfortunately, the Spurs are coming off of a loss where they allowed 112 points while getting outrebounded 51 to 39. The Pistons are rightly at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, averaging just 111.8 points per game (26th in the NBA) and allowing 119.6 points per game (29th in the NBA). Detroit's offense let them down in their last game, as they scored just 85 points on 37.0% from the field and 25.0% from three.
The Spurs are on a ridiculous run of bad form, but after a wild trade deadline day it is a bit easier to see them find a win. The Pistons will be without Bey and San Antonio know how to manufacture extra opportunities and make the extra pass. Take the Spurs.

Both the Utah Jazz and Toronto Raptors are in a similar position in their respective conferences, with both having eyes on improving their seed. Utah are currently 11th in the Western Conference with a 27-29 overall record and a 9-17 road record. Toronto are currently ranked 10th in the East with a 26-30 overall record and a 16-12 home record.
The Utah Jazz are one of the league's more potent scoring teams, averaging 117.5 points per game (4th in the NBA) while converting on 14.3 three-pointers per game (4th in the NBA). Unfortunately, they're coming off of a match where their defense allowed 143 points on 57.1% from the field and 53.5% from three on 23 makes. Toronto will counter with their defense, allowing just 112.2 points per game (9th in the NBA) while forcing 16.6 turnovers per game (2nd in the NBA) and collecting 9.3 steals per game (1st in the NBA). The Raptors enter this game on a three-game win streak where they're holding teams to just 104.0 points per game on 46.1% from the field and 32.5% from the three-point range.
In their last meeting, the Raptors battled back but still came up short against a Jazz team that dominated the paint. With their newfound center, Jakob Poeltl the Raptors should be more competitive when battling inside. Take the Raptors to find victory, especially on their home court.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Portland Trail Blazers continue to battle for position in the NBA's Play-In Tournament. The Thunder are currently 12th in the West with a 26-28 overall record and a 10-17 road record. The Trail Blazers are sitting 10th in the West with a 27-28 overall record and a 15-12 home record.
The Thunder are a fast-paced scoring team, averaging 117.6 points per game (3rd in the NBA) while collecting 8.3 steals per game (5th in the NBA) and forcing 16.7 turnovers per game (1st in the NBA). They're coming off of a solid win over the Los Angeles Lakers where they scored 133 points on 52.1% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range. The Trail Blazers will try to keep up with their own three-point attack, as they average 12.8 threes per game (8th in the NBA) on 37.3% efficiency (8th in the NBA). Portland impressed in their last game with a win over the Warriors, as they scored 125 points on 55.1% from the field and just 29.6% from three-point range.
Portland enter this game with some serious changes to their roster after the trade deadline. Expect the Thunder to take advantage in this meeting with a surprisingly shorthanded Trail Blazers team. Portland are sure to put up a fight, but after losing two key wing players they look particularly vulnerable.
