Jokic has not needed any time to get back into the full swing of the NBA season and is averaging 26.3 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.7 assists. He’s also shooting 45.5% from downtown, though he has only made 2+ once in three games.
The Denver Nuggets are playing the Utah Jazz on Monday night. Utah has allowed the third-most three-point attempts per game (41) but has only played one team that emphasizes the three-pointer (Sacramento Kings). Center Walker Kessler is also such an excellent interior defender that he’ll be hesitant to follow Jokic out onto the perimeter.

Wagner’s Orlando Magic are playing the Los Angeles Lakers, who just went to overtime with the Kings last night. There’s a strong chance that, based on the player matchups, LeBron James ends up covering Wagner for extended stretches. LeBron at this stage of his career is often lackadaisical on defense, especially coming off a long night, and should give Wagner easy looks.
The 22-year-old has gone over 18.5 twice, scoring 19 and 23 points in his two games. That’s despite shooting only 39.3% from the field which suggests that as soon as he regains his regular shooting touch he’ll be able to put even more points on the board.

Holmgren might be a 7-foot-1 freak, but rebounding is not his forte. He pulled down four boards in two of three games (and, weirdly, 13 in the other) and just struggled against a strong rebounding team in the Nuggets. Now, he gets a Detroit Pistons squad that has lots of physical players on the interior.
Jalen Duren will be Holmgren’s primary matchup on the glass. Detroit’s 19-year-old center has grabbed 14, 17, and 15 boards and is a much more physical presence than Holmgren is. Expect his brute force to win out and for Holmgren to go under on his rebounding total.

Scoot has not had the start to his NBA career that he would have hoped for as a kid. Through three games, the third-overall pick is averaging 7.3 points on 33.3% shooting and has only made one three-pointer. However, there’s reason for optimism heading into the Portland Trail Blazers’ game against the Toronto Raptors.
Scoot is taking 10 field goals and four threes and playing 29 minutes per game. That’s more than enough volume to get him over the 10.5-point line, especially with his level of talent and athleticism. The Raptor’s defense is excellent, but it’s only a matter of time before Scoot has a breakout game.

Lopez and the Milwaukee Bucks have lots of familiarity with the Miami Heat because of their playoff encounters, including last year’s first-round matchup. But the addition of Damian Lillard makes this time different, and we think it will be to the benefit of Lopez.
Miami already has to send resources far out on the perimeter to defend Lillard, build a wall to stop Giannis Antetokunmpo, and still have length to cover Khris Middleton. Lopez is at the bottom of the priority list for the defense and should use that to leak out for a few open triples. He’s made at least two in both games and is shooting better than 55% from outside.
