Trae Young tied the record for scoring in Mexico City in the Atlanta Hawks’ dramatic one-point win over the Orlando Magic, while Giannis’ 54 points and 12 rebounds weren’t enough to get past the Indiana Pacers.

LaMelo and the Charlotte Hornets lost to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday in a matchup between two of the worst teams in the league—but despite the loss, he put up a gaudy stat line of 34 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. We believe he can approach those numbers again on Friday.
The Wizards give up the most points per game, have the second-worst rebounding percentage, and average more possessions than every team in the league. This should be a fast-paced game with very little defense that leaves the door open to lots of overs.

Johnson and the San Antonio Spurs will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have the best defensive rating in basketball. Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and any of their versatile wings will be tough matchups for him, especially while the Wolves are on a four-game win streak.
Johnson only scored nine points and tied a season-low in field goal attempts (nine) against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. He’s gone under 18.5 points five times in eight games and will struggle to go over against an elite defense.

The Rockets have had quite the start to the season and are 4-3 with the fifth-best net rating. VanVleet has been a big part of that and is fifth in the Association with 8.4 assists per night.
What the longtime Toronto Raptor has not done is shoot the ball well. He’s only at 36.3% from the field (and, weirdly, 36.2% from three) but has made 3+ threes in four of seven games. The New Orleans Pelicans are injured and will play guys that need to make a name for themselves on defense, so we think he’ll finish under.

Anthony Davis is questionable for Friday’s in-season tournament game against the Phoenix Suns, which is one reason to look to James' over. Another is that he’s averaged 8.1 boards (though he has gone under in five of eight games).
The Suns have the sixth-best rebounding percentage in the league but do not have anyone with a strong interior presence aside from Jusuf Nurkic. The Lakers are struggling, and that combined with the stakes of the tournament should help LeBron stay active on the boards.

Holmgren has no problem sinking his three (55.6% from outside) and just needs to get more shots up (3.4 attempts per game). He made 2+ in four of eight games but has a stylistic advantage working for him on Friday.
The OKC Thunder are facing the Sacramento Kings, who rank 23rd in three-point defense. Holmgren’s likely matchup, Domantas Sabonis, is also not much of a perimeter defender and will be slow to close out on long shots.
