After blowing out the Raptors in their last matchup, the Raptors have a blueprint for how they can beat the shorthanded Nets. With the Nets sure to come out more focused, Toronto must maintain their defensive aggression.
The Raptors came out of the gate pressing full court against the Nets, which resulted in an early steal and basket. They maintained that aggression, winning 22 turnovers for the game and holding the Nets to 38.4% shooting from the field.
The Raptors give up one of the worst three-point percentage rates in the NBA, so they can’t allow their defensive aggression to hurt them in the end.
We knew Scottie Barnes was going to have a great night when he started 5-for-5 in Q1. He ended the game tying his career-high in points with 28! #WeTheNorth #NBARooks@ScottBarnes561: 28 PTS (12-14 FGM), 16 REB, 4 AST, 5 STL pic.twitter.com/0ThfW3rKxI

The Toronto Raptors dominated in their last game against the Nets, mostly due to the incredible start of Scottie Barnes. The rookie star was unstoppable, and will definitely be encouraged in their second meeting.
In his last game, Barnes posted 28 points, 16 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists. Barnes was locked in from the jump, converting on his first 10 field goal attempts.
The Toronto Raptors, usually weak on the glass, found themselves dominating the Nets due to the pace and tenacity that Barnes set.
The Nets’ last game against the Raptors was a horror show. Brooklyn were dominated across the board, and will enter this game looking to regain some pride.
Last time against the Raptors, a big issue for the Nets was their inability to recover on shooters. Against a smaller team, the likes of Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin, and LaMarcus Aldridge looked stuck in mud against the faster Raptors.
The Nets allowed Toronto to shoot 51.5% from the field and convert on 18 of 38 three-point field goal attempts. If they can adjust to the Raptors’ shooting, they can remain competitive in this rematch.

When the Nets last took on the Toronto Raptors, it seemed like Bruce Brown was the only one ready to come out and play. When Toronto upped the pace, Brown was the only one able to keep up.
The Nets swingman posted 14 points, 6 rebounds, a block, and a steal in 24 minutes of play. He was 5 of 11 from the field, the only Net who seemed to actively be hunting for his shot.
Brown set the tone for the Nets to open the game, but nobody else could keep up. The Nets will look for him to lead them once again, and set the standard on both ends.
