How can the Cavaliers beat the Pacers?
The Cleveland Cavaliers have an interesting game on their hands when they face the Pacers. After an eventful trade deadline, they’ll need to dig in where they’re strong to beat the Pacers.
After the Pacers moved All-Star Domantas Sabonis, Cleveland look as if they’ll have the advantage in the paint. The 10th best rebounding team in the NBA, the Cavaliers need to command the glass against a Pacers team that moved their best rebounder.
One of the league’s best defensive teams, the Cavaliers should shut down the newly formed Indiana Pacers. Blocking off the paint should be priority number one for Cleveland.
Cavaliers Key Player: (F) Evan Mobley

— NBA on ESPN (@ESPNNBA) February 7, 2022
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be looking to rookie star Evan Mobley to help them to victory against the Indiana Pacers. With the Pacers’ front court lacking, Mobley must control the paint defensively.
Mobley is coming off of a great performance, where he posted 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 1 block on 6 of 15 shooting from the field. While Mobley wasn’t super-efficient from the field, his defensive performance more than made up for it.
Against a Pacers team that struggles to shoot the ball, Mobley must control the paint in order to force Indiana to play where they’re weakest. If he’s unable to challenge players at the rim, the Pacers could find a win.
How can the Pacers beat the Cavaliers?
The Indiana Pacers will have their hands full when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. If Indiana would like to steal a win, they’ll need to maintain the production they received across the board.
In their last game, a loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Indiana’s bench contributed 32 of the team’s 112 points. While they’ll be getting used to some new teammates, they’ll need to adjust early to keep pace with Cleveland.
While we’ll still be unsure of who will suit up for the Pacers after their dramatic trade deadline, we do know that they’re a gritty team who will take it to the Cavaliers on both ends of the court. To make up for their unsteady side, Indiana will need production across the board.
Pacers Key Player: (G) Chris Duarte
Chris Duarte is smooth. 👀
— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) October 26, 2021
With the Indiana Pacers entering a new phase in their development, all eyes are on promising young rookie Chris Duarte. A solid scorer despite his inexperience, he’ll be leaned on to overcome the Cavaliers’ tough defence.
In his last game, a blowout loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Duarte was one of the bright spots. He posted 25 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds in 34 minutes of play. He shot 50% from the field and converted on all of his 7 free throws.
With the future seemingly in the hands of Duarte for the Pacers, he certainly has the green light going forward. Against a tough defence in the Cavaliers, Duarte’s playmaking will need to be as focused as his scoring.
