The Boston Celtics will get everything they can handle when they take on the Golden State Warriors. Their defence has helped them handle all of their Eastern Conference opponents, but Golden State will be their greatest test.
The Boston Celtics have been the best defensive team of the 2022 NBA Playoffs. They’ve held opponents to an average of just 31.7% shooting from three-point range, while also forcing 13.1 turnovers per game.
The Warriors play at a faster pace than the Celtics have faced this playoffs. If they can maintain their defensive standards while also keeping up with the speed of the Warriors, Boston certainly has the scoring to keep up and take Game 1.
Jayson Tatum has gone toe-to-toe with some all-time greats ?

He’s probably no longer a rising star after reaching the NBA Finals. Jayson Tatum is one of the NBA’s top young talents, and his scoring prowess showed why he was fully deserving of winning the inaugural Larry Bird Trophy.
Through the Celtics’ run through the 2022 NBA Playoffs, Tatum has averaged 27 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.2 steals in 41.1 minutes per game. His usage is high, and his shooting has come and gone, but he’s been rather efficient going 44.6% from the field and 37.5% from three.
There will be a lot of pressure on Tatum’s shoulders going into this match. The Warriors are sure to go at him on the defensive end, so he’ll need to show that his quality is on both ends of the court.
The Golden State Warriors have bounced back from a number of down seasons and are aiming for their 4th NBA title in 8 years. All things seem to be in the favor of the Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals, their biggest obstacle is themselves.
Few teams played faster than the Warriors this post-season, ranking 5th in field goal attempts per game but still 3rd in field goal percentage. Their main issue is their 14.8 turnovers per game, the most for any team that escaped the first round.
Golden State is going to put the pressure on the Celtics early. If they cut down on their own mistakes and play with efficiency to open the game, the Warriors can put Boston in a very difficult position to escape from.

The Golden State Warriors have been excellent this post-season, with Stephen Curry leading them to another NBA Finals. The inaugural winner of the Earvin “Magic” Johnson Trophy, Curry looks to be in Finals MVP winning form.
Through this season’s playoffs, Curry has been the clear star for the Warriors. He’s posted averages of 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 33.6 minutes per game. He’s been solid shooting the ball as well, converting on 44.9% of his field goal attempts, and 38% of his three-point attempts.
Stephen Curry can set the tone for the Warriors in this game. He’s been brilliant both initiating the offence, as well as working off the ball. If they can overcome the Celtics defence early, the Warriors have a great chance in this series.
