How can the Warriors beat the Nuggets?

The Golden State Warriors are up against one of their toughest matchups when they take on the Nuggets. Winless in two games against the Nuggets this season, Golden State needs to be perfect to break their losing streak.

It hasn’t been their offensive performance that has fallen short, but they haven’t been able to contain their opponents on the defensive side of the ball. Over their last four games, all losses, the Warriors allowed their opponents to shoot 51.3% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range.

The Warriors are going to struggle with Denver’s interior presence. If Golden State can resurrect their defensive standards and guard as a team, their offence is strong enough to earn a win against the Nuggets.

Warriors Key Player: (G) Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors will need to rely on Curry more than ever if they want to steal a win from the Denver Nuggets. He was brilliant scoring the ball in his last game, but couldn’t lead them to victory.

In the Warriors’ 116-124 loss to the Lakers, Curry posted 30 points 4 rebounds, and converted on 4 of his 9 three-point field goals. His ability to shoot was on full display, but he’ll need to be more involved with the playmaking.

One of the top passing teams in the NBA, 3rd with 27.2 assists per game, the Warriors struggled with their ball movement last game. To beat the Nuggets, Curry may need to make up for the playmaking loss with Draymond Green’s injury.

How can the Nuggets beat the Warriors?

The Denver Nuggets have had the Warriors’ number throughout this season. To do it three times in a row won’t be easy, but they have the blueprint.

In two games against the Golden State Warriors, the Nuggets were able to dominate the glass and limit the Warriors’ three-point field goals. Denver’s size advantage worked wonders for them, as they’ve struggled to shoot the three against Golden State – just an average of 11 of 34.5 in two games.

Golden State are on a losing streak, and will come out firing. As they look to overwhelm the Nuggets, Denver must retain what gave them success against the Warriors in past games. Dominating the paint will be their best avenue toward another win.

Nuggets Key Player: (C) DeMarcus Cousins

With new inspiration for his career, DeMarcus Cousins has rewarded the Denver Nuggets with some fantastic play. With Nikola Jokic out, Cousins was able to fill in admirably.

In his start against the Houston Rockets, Cousins put on a vintage performance. Dominant across the floor, Cousins posted 31 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals on 10 of 14 shooting from the field.

The Warriors aren’t particularly strong in the paint, so DeMarcus Cousins should have the advantage on the offensive end. How he keeps up with the Warriors on the defensive end will determine how long he will stay on the court.
