Indiana Pacers vs Washington Wizards Predictions and Picks
Our Pick |
The Wizards showed their ineptitude on the defensive end in their last game. Their role players were also unable to support them. Indiana is on a great run and their injury issues were probably overstated. The Pacers should take this match. |

IND: Multiple Contributors
The Indiana Pacers showed off their ability when they took down the Charlotte Hornets. They were able to slow down their upstart guards, while also finding production across their roster.
In their victory over the Hornets, the Pacers had eight different players score in double digits. The main stars of the match were Domantas Sabonis and Oshae Brissett, combining for 44 points, 26 rebounds, and 11 assists.
They’ll need similar contributions when they face off against the Wizards. Caris LeVert’s status is still in question, so they’ll need production from every position.

The Indiana Pacers found a surprising contributor when they added Oshae Brissett to the lineup late in the season. Initially thought to just be an energy player, Brissett has contributed across the board.
In his last game against the Hornets, Brissett posted 23 points, five rebounds, and two assists on 10 of 14 shooting from the field.
Brissett’s efficiency is what head coach Nate Bjorkgren appreciates the most. He’ll still need to put in a good defensive shift, as he’s sure to find himself covering the entire starting line at points.
WAS: Open Up Play for Westbrook and Beal
Beal and Westbrook are the two stars for the Wizards, but their lack of depth ensures that they’ll be blitz anytime that they have the ball. For Washington to win, Scott Brooks needs to find a way for the pair to find easier opportunities.
Westbrook and Beal combined for 42 points, 23 rebounds, and 11 assists in their last meeting with the Celtics. Unfortunately, the pair were a combined 16 of 43 from the field and one of ten from three.
It goes against the Wizards’ main method of success through the season, but the ball must touch more hands so that their stars can find opportunities. Collecting only 17 assists against Boston, the Wizards need to create opportunities for their stars.
Wizards Key Player: (F) Davis Bertans

— NBA UK (@NBAUK) May 16, 2021
Many eyes will be on Westbrook and Beal after their inefficient night from the field, but a big factor in their struggles was Bertans’ inability to convert on shots.
Bertans is Washington’s designated shooter, but he was a embarrassing one of eight in his last match against the Celtics.
The Wizards need Bertans to be effective from three. Outside of him and Beal, the Washington Wizards aren’t super capable shooting the ball.
