Kings vs Warriors Predictions

What Happened in Game 2?

Game 2 saw the Sacramento Kings go up 2-0 in their Western Conference First Round series against the Golden State Warriors. Not known for their defense, the Kings could hold the Warriors' high-octane offense to just 106 points on the evening. Unfortunately, the game resulted in a Draymond Green ejection and an injury to Domantas Sabonis that could keep him out of Game 3.

The Sacramento Kings dominated the Golden State Warriors in the paint for the second straight game. The Kings outscored the Warriors 54-40 at the rim, despite converting on just 45.7% of their field goal attempts - compared to the Warriors' 47.6%. The Kings also controlled the pace of play with their offense, generating 22 assists in Game 2 versus 18 in Game 1. A significant factor in the Kings' success was their ability to get to the free-throw line, converting on 21 of their 29 attempts on the night.

The Golden State Warriors looked promising to start the game, winning the first quarter 23-17. Unfortunately, they failed to win another quarter after the first, losing the last three quarters 83 to 97. Due to their defensive inefficiencies, the Golden State Warriors could never bridge the gap equally in most competitive categories.

Key Stats From Last Game

Stephen Curry again led the Golden State Warriors in Game 2, posting 28 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds on 42.9% shooting from the field and 23.1% from three-point range. The two-time league MVP was held well below his averages from deep, as he hit just 3 of his 13 three-point attempts.

The Sacramento Kings' star pairing of Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox once again dominated the Warriors from the perimeter and in the paint. The duo posted a combined 48 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists on 18 of 35 shooting while committing just 5 turnovers. The Kings' two-headed attack was too much to handle for the Warriors, and their inside-out presence helped create significant opportunities for their teammates.

Bench players were also crucial in Game 3. Malik Monk of the Kings maintained his solid play by contributing 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists off the bench. Gary Payton II of the Warriors posted 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals while shooting 5 of 6 from the field and 2 of 3 from three-point range.

Kings vs Warriors Game Preview

Thursday night's NBA Playoff schedule will see the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors face off for Game 3 of their Western Conference First-Round series. The Sacramento Kings have an ATS Record of 27-14-0 o the road, covering 65.9% of the time. Through 41 games on the road, the Sacramento Kings were 25-16 overall.

As the home team, the Golden State Warriors own an ATS record of 27-13-1, covering 67.5% of the time. Despite being dreadful on the road, the Warriors won 33 of their 41 games at Oracle Arena. In their two victories against Sacramento this season, the Warriors won by a 12.5-point margin.

The Sacramento aims to put Golden State on the brink of elimination with the opportunity to go up 3-0 in Game 3. The Warriors will miss a key player in Draymond Green, but Kings All-Star Domantas Sabonis will be a game-time decision. The defense hasn't been Golden State's calling card all season, so they'll need to summon some rare form to earn their first series win.

Sacramento Kings Team Preview

Sacramento Kings ATS Record: 47-36-1

The Sacramento Kings have been excellent through two games against the Golden State Warriors. Enforcing their game plan on both ends of the court, the Sacramento Kings have made the reigning champion Golden State Warriors look out of their depth. As they enter two straight games on the Warriors' home court, Sacramento will look to maintain their quality on the road.

In Game 2 against Golden State, Sacramento's offense maintained its depth and quality. The Kings shot 45.7% from the field but 23.7% on 9 of 38 from three-point range. What earned them the victory was their forcing 20 turnovers and scoring 25 points off of those turnovers.

The Kings must maintain their defensive effort to go up 3-0 on the series. However, their bench production will be equally important, most recently producing 36 points to the Warriors reserves' 21 in Game 2. It'll be a blow for the Kings if Sabonis cannot play, so it'll be even more important for the bench to maintain their scoring output.

Golden State Warriors Team Preview

Golden State Warriors ATS Record: 39-44-1

The Golden State Warriors are down 0-2 in a playoff series for the first time since 1994. The Kings have provided the most adversity the Stephen Curry-led Warriors have ever experienced. Back on their home court, the Warriors will need to find the form that won them 33 games on their home court - now without the services of Draymond Green.

In Game 2 against the Sacramento Kings, the Warriors' offense was stifled while their defense couldn't contain the Kings. Despite losing the paint-scoring battle again, the Warriors matched the Kings on the glass 41-41. The Warriors shot a poor 13 of 40 from the field in Game 2, despite their starting lineup shooting over 42.9% on the night.

Golden State is in a challenging situation, but they'll have the safety of their home court supporting them. They'll need to get their offense back on track with Draymond Green unavailable to facilitate their scoring. Through the regular season, Golden State averaged 119.7 points on 48.1% from the field and 39.1% from the three-point range.

Kings vs Warriors Game Pick

Spread: Golden State Warriors -5.5 (-110)

Total: Under 239.0 (-110)

There are some big ifs involved in this match-up. Draymond Green is out, but Domantas Sabonis will be a game-time decision. Sabonis' presence has been a difference maker for Golden State and would have an even more significant impact with Green unavailable. If the Lithuanian All-Star is available for Game 3, don't hesitate to flip your pick.
