The LA Clippers lost their focus in their last match, which resulted in a loss. While the Celtics are solid defensively, the Clippers look primed to outpace their shorthanded opponents.

The LA Clippers are not starved for offensive options, but in their last match, the Clippers played right into their opponents’ defence. LA cannot afford to settle on offence and need to find easy shots.
In the Clippers’ loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, they shot 41.2% from the field and 31.8% from three. However come the fourth quarter, the Clippers only converted on eight of their 28 shots – versus the Bucks’ nine of 19 rates which fuelled their comeback.
The Celtics have a switchable defence that is agile enough to recover on swings and kick-outs. If the Clippers want to win this game, they must receive an all-around effort from their roster.
The Boston Celtics continue to struggle, but two beneficial recent fixtures have helped them back to .500. On the other hand, their recent three-point defence has also aided their return to an even record.
In their last two games, wins against the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards, the Celtics have allowed their opponents to shoot an average of 30.8% from three-point range. They’ll need to maintain that defensive form against the sharpshooting Clippers.
LA shoots a league-best, 41.6% from the three-point range. The issue for the Celtics will be containing the shooting adept big men of the Clippers, with their relatively slow-footed big men. Should Boston go small to aid recovery, they’ll need to ensure they don’t get dominated inside as a result.

The LA Clippers billed the acquisition of Paul George as one of the NBA‘s greatest coups, but his inconsistency has cost them in ways you wouldn’t expect from a star player.
Paul George was dreadful shooting the ball in the Clippers’ last game against the Bucks, going seven of 21 from the field. Even more worrying was his fourth-quarter shooting, where he converted on just one of nine field-goal attempts.
If the Clippers want to achieve decisive wins late, they must be able to rely on Paul George. He’ll be tested again against the Celtics, so how he fares against another talented perimeter defence will be telling of his reliability.

The Boston Celtics’ defensive standards seem to go up and down this season, however, German big man Daniel Theis has been a mainstay for Brad Stevens’ team.
Theis’ versatility on both ends of the court is incredibly valuable. In his last game, Theis contributed 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 32 minutes of play.
Head Coach Brad Stevens will rely on Theis to manage the Clippers’ many screen-and-rolls on the defensive side of the ball. His quick feet are unique amongst the Celtics big men, so he’ll be essential in slowing the Clippers’ star wings.
