How can the Lakers beat the Bucks?

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been able to find any consistency through this early season. While they are capable on many fronts, their inability to regularly share the ball for better shooting opportunities has hurt them.

In their last game against the Bulls, it was youngster Talen Horton-Tucker who led the way, while Westbrook and Davis supported him. However, their supporting cast couldn’t make any valuable shots with Bradley, Monk, and Ellington combining to shoot 3 of 14 from the field.

It is on Westbrook and Rondo to create better opportunities for their teammates. One, an explosive offensive threat, and the other a traditional playmaker, they must get their role players involved to keep pace with the Bucks.

Lakers Key Player: (F) Carmelo Anthony

One of the NBA’s most veteran players and an active legend, Carmelo Anthony is a double-edged sword for this Lakers team. He lives and dies by his scoring, contributing almost nothing else.

Anthony is coming off of a game where he posted 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist on 4 of 10 shooting from the field. He was a minus-21 on the night, second-worst on the evening.

If the Lakers want to take a victory from the Bucks, they need Anthony to be a presence on the offensive end of the ball. If he can’t overcome the Bucks’ defense, he’s simply a liability on the court.

How Can the Bucks beat the Lakers?

The Bucks are still struggling due to injuries keeping some key contributors out of the game. The place where they are suffering the most is on the glass.

Milwaukee are coming off of a blowout loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Not only were they beaten by 20 points, but they were outrebounded 51 to 30. Simply put, the Bucks are too small in the paint.

The Lakers’ big men are going to be as tough, if not more, of a task for Milwaukee as they’ve encountered this season. The responsibility can’t just be on Antetokounmpo, either Milwaukee rebounds as a team or they suffer another loss.

Bucks Key Player: (F) Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Bucks are coming off of a game where they were blown out by Eastern Conference rivals the Atlanta Hawks. While Antetokounmpo isn’t coming off of a bad game, he has a tough defence to contend with in the Lakers.

The Greek Freak posted 26 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds in his last game, a loss to Atlanta. He was a minus-9 on the night, mostly due to his shooting efficiency.

Antetokounmpo now faces a Lakers team that boasts the likes of Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and DeAndre Jordan in the paint. Never a three-point shooter, Antetokounmpo will need to keep the Lakers honest from range or create opportunities for his teammates to offset the Lakers’ interior presence.
