How Can the Nets Beat the Mavericks?
While the Mavericks have been short in terms of their personnel in recent games, the Nets cannot look past their opponents. If they want to beat Dallas on the first game of their four-game road trip, Brooklyn must push the pace early.
In Brooklyn’s last game against the Bulls, head coach Steve Nash’s team opened the game with a 34-point first quarter. In comparison, Dallas have scored a total of just 37 points in their last two first quarters.
It’s clear that the Mavericks are struggling on the offensive end of the ball. Should Brooklyn want to take out the Western Conference hopefuls early, they need to be aggressive from the tip.
Nets Key Player: (G) James Harden

When the Brooklyn Nets take on the Dallas Mavericks, they’ll be up against a young and energetic squad. Former league MVP James Harden needs to make an efficient impact with his scoring.
In his last game, a loss to the Chicago Bulls, James Harden was dreadful shooting the ball. Harden posted 14 points, 14 assists, and 7 rebounds, but shot just 5 of 21 from the field and 1 of 5 from three.
Harden may not have committed any turnovers in his last match, but missing 16 shots in the game may as well be turning over the ball. A talented scorer on every inch of the court, Harden must take advantage of a defence-averse Mavericks squad.
How Can the Mavericks Beat the Nets?
The Dallas Mavericks have a tall task in front of them when they face the Brooklyn Nets. If Dallas want to beat Brooklyn, they must limit Brooklyn’s ball movement.
In wins, the Brooklyn Nets average 27.3 assists on 40.9 field goals. In losses, Brooklyn averages 21.6 assists on 37.7 field goals. Defence is obviously the key, but Dallas must limit the opportunities afforded from their star’s playmaking ability.
Simply limiting additional opportunities for the Nets is easier said than done. Not the most consistent defence in the NBA, the Mavericks will need to find a defensive game that they rarely showcase.

The Dallas Mavericks have been significantly undermanned as of late, a big reason for their recent losses. While Doncic and Porzingis are expected to play, they’re not a lock. With uncertainty surrounding the Mavericks’ lineup, Tim Hardaway Jr. becomes their leader.
In Dallas’ recent loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, Hardaway Jr. was the Mavericks’ sole bright spot. He posted 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals on 7 of 18 shooting from the field and 5 of 9 shooting from three.
Should Doncic, Porzingis, or both be unavailable for this game, Tim Hardaway Jr. needs to step up as Dallas’ primary offensive player. Should either or both of their European superstars play in this match, Hardaway Jr. still needs to produce to take down a strong Brooklyn Nets team.
