GSW: Take Care of the Ball

The Golden State Warriors enter this matchup off the back of an incredible win over the Phoenix Suns. A big reason for their victory was their ball security.

Despite playing a strong defensive team in their last game, the Warriors only committed eight turnovers. They even made up for it though, collecting eight steals and forcing 10 turnovers out of their opponents.

The Pelicans are depleted, but their available players are willing and athletic. Golden State should do their most to not give the Pelicans extra opportunities.

Warriors Key Player: (F) Andrew Wiggins

With Steph Curry having an off night, Canadian international Andrew Wiggins stepped up and had an incredible night to lead the Warriors to victory.

In his last game, Wiggins posted 38 points, seven rebounds, and three assists on 17 of 14 shooting from the field.

Head coach Steve Kerr will be happy that Wiggins is in good form this late in the season. Giving Stephen Curry a break on the offensive end will be more than welcome, if Wiggins is up for it.

Editor’s Picks

NOP: Who Will Take the Scoring Initiative

It is no secret that the New Orleans Pelicans are missing a number of players. While they worked as a team in their last matchup, Stan Van Gundy is looking for someone to step up and take on the scoring load.

In their last game, a loss to the Dallas Mavericks, the Pelicans had seven different players score in double-digits. Unfortunately, the preferred options didn’t do too well from the field.

Eric Bledsoe and Nickeil Alexander-Walker will be relied upon when they take on the Warriors. But if they continue to struggle with their shot, they’ll have to refocus and create for others.

Pelicans Key Player: (C) Jaxson Hayes

With Steven Adams and Zion Williamson out, Jaxson Hayes was the Pelicans’ presence in the paint in their last match.

In New Orleans’ loss to Dallas, Hayes posted 15 points, six rebounds, a block, and a steal in 21 minutes off the bench.

Hayes won’t be creating his own shot. But with his size and athleticism, Hayes needs to be more efficient from the field than going four of 10 in his last game.
