IND: Is Indiana's Three-Point Shooting for Real?

The Indiana Pacers are off to a hotter start than anybody thought was possible through this early season. After a dreadful first five games, they're a game out from .500 off the back of their excellent three-point shooting.

The Indiana Pacers are coming off of a franchise record 23 made three-point field goals in a 125-115 win over the Brooklyn Nets. They capitalized on the Nets' porous defence, improving on their already league-best three-point shooting.

The Nets are sure to come out with a tighter focus on their defence, but Indiana simply matchups well on all tiers of their offence. They're going to put up their shots, and outmanoeuvre Brooklyn's decent rim protectors.

Pacers Key Player: (G-F) Benedict Mathurin

A big reason for the Pacers' surprise success through the early season is the performance of Canadian rookie Benedict Mathurin. He's entered the league with ambition and no fear for his opponents, which has been reflected in his play.

In his last game Mathurin was crucial to the Pacers' success. He posted 32 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals off the bench. He shot 8 of 16 from the field, but was 6 of 9 from three-point range while also shooting 10 of 10 from the free-throw line.

The Pacers' guard play can be fantastic, but Mathurin's scoring ability off the bench can be a game-changing force. To take down the Nets again, Mathurin needs to be similarly efficient with his scoring.

BKN: Can the Nets' Defence Meet Their Offence?

Without a doubt, the Brooklyn Nets have a level of offensive potential that few in the NBA can match. Their main issue is their lack of effort on the defensive end of the court. If they hope to get revenge on the Pacers, Brooklyn need their defence to match their offence.

The numbers are staggering when inspected. Despite committing only 9 turnovers and shooting 50% from the field in their last game against Indiana, the Nets also allowed their opponents to shoot 42.6% from the field, 50% from three, and forced only 10 turnovers.

There's a fair amount that the Nets do well, at least on the offensive end. Locking up their opponents on the three-point line will be priority number one though. If they can't limit the Pacers' shooting, it'll be another one in the loss column.

Nets Key Player: (G) Kyrie Irving

For all of his behavior off the court that is drawing attention, Kyrie Irving is coming off of a game where did more than his fair share to try and win the game. His production can't be questioned and is something that must be maintained for the Nets to earn a victory.

In his last game against the Pacers, Irving posted 35 points, 6 assists, and 2 rebounds in 39 minutes of play. He was a solid 13 of 22 from the field and converted on 5 of his 12 three-point field goals.

The Pacers are sure to key in on Kyrie Irving when they face off again. Irving's playmaking will be put to the test, but his offensive contributions need to be solid if Brooklyn hope to bring the season series level.
