SAC: Maintain the Effort

The Sacramento Kings have been led by their energetic backcourt, and their team’s willingness to work for extra opportunities in order to win matches.

The Kings average 39 points in the paint, 16.3 second chance points, and 17.5 fast-break points per game. While their overall scoring rate is lower than the Celtics’, Sacramento have the intangibles to keep them competitive.

So long as they don’t get left behind by the Celtics’ scorers, the Kings have a good chance in this game.

Kings Key Player: (G) Jahmi’us Ramsey

While most watchers have been watching the Kings’ first round selection Davion Mitchell, it has been incoming sophomore Jahmi’us Ramsey who has impressed with his offensive play.

Ramsey is averaging 16.3 points per game on 47.9% shooting from the field. He’s certainly not been shy on the offensive end, opting to be the primary scorer with Mitchell taking on playmaking duties.

In order to keep pace with the Celtics, Ramsey needs to be on his game. A volume scorer with little contribution in any other stat category, his efficiency can make or break the Kings’ title hopes.

BOS: Work from the Backcourt

While Payton Pritchard will likely be unable to play in this matchup, the Celtics have plenty of weapons available to them. The wing trio of Aaron Nesmith, Romeo Langford, and Carsen Edwards have the potential to help the Celtics run away with this game early.

The three have averaged a combined 44.3 points, 15.3 rebounds, and 9.0 assists through the Las Vegas Summer League. Even without Pritchard available, the trio are still a good scoring and low turnover group.

The issue for them will be overcoming the Kings who have a capable perimeter defence. Boston are volume shooters from three, with their wing trio averaging 17.8 three-point attempts per game. So long as they can maintain their efficiency, the Summer League title should be theirs.

BOS Key Player: (G-F) Aaron Nesmith

Celtics guard Aaron Nesmith came on late for the Celtics through last season, and he’s continued to prove his value for Boston in the Summer League.

The Nigerian international has averaged 18.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 51.7% shooting from the field. His two-way play has been excellent, and his added scoring touch has been impressive.

In his last game of the Summer League, Aaron Nesmith is sure to show out. Against a tough group of perimeter defenders, the incoming sophomore guard’s shooting efficiency could lead the Celtics to the Summer League title.
