The New Orleans Pelicans and the LA Clippers are in some decent form as of late, even if their last ten-game run has been much less impressive. With the opportunity to break into the upper tier of the Western Conference rankings, expect a competitive matchup between the Pelicans and Clippers!
The New Orleans Pelicans have been up and down due to inconsistency and injury this season, but they shine in a few areas. On the defensive side of the ball, the Pelicans hold their opponents to 113.9 points per game (16th) on 46.1% from the field (10th) and 31.8% from three-point range (1st). The Pelicans will try to find opportunities at the rim if they can get past LA’s perimeter defense.
The LA Clippers have struggled due to the nature of their roster changes through the early season. While their offense still needs work, the Clippers’ defense remains intimidating. They allow just 109.1 points per game (8th) on 45.0% from the field (5th), and 33.8% from three-point range (4th). Obviously, their offense's potential is high, with the likes of Harden, Leonard, George, and Westbrook leading the way.
For the LA Clippers, Mason Plumlee (Knee) and Brandon Boston Jr. (Quad) remain out, while Norman Powell (Groin) is listed as questionable. The New Orleans Pelicans have listed CJ McCollum (Chest), Matt Ryan (Calf), and Trey Murphy III (Knee) as unavailable.

The LA Clippers may still need to overcome their issues integrating James Harden into the lineup, but their current three-game win streak signifies the potential of his contributions to this Clippers team. Facing a step up in competition in the New Orleans Pelicans, this game is a chance to prove Harden’s contributions aren’t based on his opponent’s quality.
Through eight games, Harden has averaged 16.0 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.0 rebounds on 48.1% from the field and 37.2% from three-point range. He’s had his best run of games through the Clippers’ three-game win streak, averaging 17.7 points, 8.7 assists, and 6.0 rebounds on 50.0% from the field and 37.5% from three.
Harden will take command of the Clippers on offense and be empowered by the traditional lineup of the Pelicans. While he’ll be hounded by some rugged defenders, Harden should find success given the screen-and-roll options and the Pelicans’ defense performing in the bottom third of assists allowed per game. Expect a big night from The Beard.

LeBron James continues to impress, leading his Los Angeles Lakers in several categories despite his advanced age. James has been excellent at starting the season by averaging 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game on 58.6% from the field and 39.7% from three.
The Dallas MaJonas Valanciunas 10+ Rebounds (+115) at FanDuel
Jonas Valanciunas is the last of a dying breed, the old-school center that bangs in the paint and intimidates at the rim. While he won’t get a long run, Valanciunas thrives against similarly big men, and the LA Clippers present a perfect opportunity for him to shine.
Averaging 13.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game on 54.8% from the field and 37.9% from three, Valanciunas has been a mainstay at center for the Pelicans. Valanciunas is averaging 17.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in his last three games. Against a center like Zubac, expect similar production.
