The Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks standoff in one of the marquee matchups of the evening. Both teams want to climb their respective standings, which will undoubtedly result in an exciting matchup!
What the Suns have done this season so far has been admirable. While they assembled a super team in the offseason through the acquisition of Bradley Beal, they’ve been plagued with injury to the point Durant, Booker, and Beal have rarely seen the court together. Even still, the potency of their two-way play sees them scoring 117.2 points per game (7th) while holding their opponents to 113.3 (16th) on 45.9% shooting from the field (8th).
The New York Knicks lean in the defensive direction, seeing as they’ve struggled offensively all season. Scoring just 109.5 points (27th) on 43.9% from the field (28th), the Knicks make up for it by holding their opponents to 105.3 points per game (2nd). Still, against a talented team like the Suns, New York needs all hands on deck.
For the Suns, Damion Lee (Knee), Bradley Beal (Back), and Yuta Watanabe (Quad) are out, while Drew Eubanks (Ankle) and Kevin Durant (Foot) will be game-time decisions. New York is expected to have a full complement.

Kevin Durant is known for his scoring prowess and versatility on the defensive side of the ball. The quality of his playmaking tends to go unnoticed, as he’s developed his passing game to complement his unmatched scoring ability. Against a hard-nosed Knicks team, Durant’s creative skills will be under the spotlight.
Carrying the Suns through the early portions of the season, Durant has averaged 31.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game on 53.3% from the field and 52.2% from beyond the arc. His most recent five games have been impressive, averaging 34.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 7.0 rebounds on 60.6% from the field and 68.0% from deep.
The New York Knicks love to pack the paint and test their opponents from deep, but Durant is such a great talent that they’ll look to get the ball out of his hands. Collecting six or more assists in seven of his 15 appearances, expect Durant to break down the gritty Knicks with his playmaking as New York attempts to limit the future Hall of Famer.

RJ Barrett got off to an impressive start to the season, but his productivity has fallen off as he’s struggled with injuries through each run of matches. When he faces the Phoenix Suns, he’ll be asked to find productivity and efficiency against one of the NBA’s best.
On the season, Barrett is averaging 20.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists on 45.8% from the field and 46.3% from three. However, in his last three games, Barrett posted 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 38.1% from the field and 35.7% from deep. He’s struggled against sides that pack the paint, and the Suns’ interior defense suggests he’ll have another difficult night.
