How Can the Suns Beat the Mavericks?
The Phoenix Suns are known as one of the NBA’s best defensive teams. It sounds simple to say, but to beat the Mavericks they must limit Luka Doncic and his playmaking ability.
The difference between Doncic’s performance in wins and losses this season are stark. He shoots 45% from the field and averages 9.4 assists in wins, versus 39.6% and 7.8 in losses.
While the offensive potential of the Mavericks is high, it all goes through Doncic. If Phoenix can force Dallas’ playmaking out of anyone but Doncic, the Suns have a great chance.
Suns Key Player: (G) Devin Booker

It’s already well known how much of a threat Devin Booker is. However in his last game, a win over the San Antonio Spurs, Booker put on one of the best performances of his career.
The Phoenix Suns All-Star guard is coming off of posting 48 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. He was 18 of 33 from the field while also converting on 5 of 13 three-point field goal attempts.
The Mavericks can be an impressive scoring team as well, and own a well-improved defence. In his current form, Booker could still have another brilliant scoring night.
How Can the Mavericks Beat the Suns?
The Dallas Mavericks will have their hands full when they take on the Suns. If they want to beat the Western Conference leaders, they must put in a strong shift on the glass.
In wins and losses, the Suns are actually rather consistent. However in losses, the Suns have been out rebounded by an average of 6.7, while allowing 10.3 offensive rebounds per game.
The status of Deandre Ayton going into this game is still up in the air, but Dallas can’t be complacent on the glass. Porzingis and Powell will be looked at to lead the way on the boards, but it must be a team effort in the end.
Mavericks Key Player: (G) Luka Doncic

Over the Dallas Mavericks’ recent winning streak they’ve played well as a team. Doncic struggled to shoot the ball early in this run, but found his form against the Toronto Raptors.
In his last game, a win over the Toronto Raptors, Doncic posted 41 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists in 42 minutes of play. Not only did he shoot 13 of 24 from the field, but he converted on 11 of 12 free throw attempts.
Doncic getting back on his scoring roll is a great sign for the Mavericks going into this game. If he can cause the Suns defense problems similar to those he caused in the last game, the Mavericks could steal a win.
