As they fight for a place that'll earn them automatic qualification for the NBA Playoffs, the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves are sure to put on a competitive game. The Warriors have a narrow lead over the Timberwolves, who are aiming to overtake them for seventh place. At the same time, the Timberwolves are emboldened by the return of center Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Timberwolves will challenge the Warriors with their efficient offense, which scores 116.1 points per game (11th in the NBA) on 49.2% from the field (3rd in the NBA) and 57.2% from inside the arc (3rd in the NBA). Surprisingly the Minnesota Timberwolves are more efficient on the road, averaging 115.7 points on 49.8% from the field and 37.0% from three-point range.

The Warriors will try to set the pace on their home court, though, with an offense that scores 118.4 points per game (2nd in the NBA) while hitting 16.5 threes (1st in the NBA). The Warriors must establish their passing game, as they average almost four fewer assists and ten fewer points in losses compared to victories.

Take the Warriors to win. Expect the Timberwolves to put up a good fight, especially with their tenacity and size advantage. However, the Warriors, especially on their home court, are too potent offensively, and Minnesota's defense won't contain the Warriors' shooters.

Key Players & Stats

Golden State Warriors guard Jordan Poole remains one of the league's most intriguing players. Poole is averaging 20.1 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game on 42.6% from the field and 32.8% from the three-point range. Poole has been consistent on the road or at home, and his numbers have remained relatively constant. While Golden State's stars will be the focus, Poole must lead the Warriors' bench against the Timberwolves' capable reserve unit.

Karl-Anthony Towns returned to the Timberwolves lineup from a 53-game absence and looked excellent in limited minutes. While the Timberwolves are likely to keep him in a lessened role given his time back from injury, Towns as an additional offensive option will be critical for the Timberwolves' chances at victory. In his first game back, Towns posted 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists while converting on two of his three-point field goal attempts.
