The Golden State Warriors are coming off of a win where they were able to control the upstart Cavaliers. When the Warriors take on the Grizzlies, they will be asked to control the penetration of one of the league’s best attackers.
Both the Warriors and the Grizzlies are in the top five in fast break points per game, with the Grizzlies sitting second overall to the Warriors’ sixth. Memphis have been particularly driven, scoring 20.3 fast break points per game over their last three.
With some players missing the Warriors will need to get the most out of their main unit to steal a win from the Warriors. Their shooting as a team was of last time, but slowing down Memphis’ easy opportunities will keep the Grizzlies in check better than a simple scoring contest.

The Golden State Warriors were delighted to welcome Klay Thompson back on to the court in their last game. While he is under a minutes restriction, how he performs will be analysed by everyone.
After returning to NBA action for the first time in over 900 days, Thompson looked excellent. The three-time NBA Champion posted 17 points on 7 of 18 shooting from the field and 3 of 8 shooting from deep.
He won’t be the difference-maker in this game, as he isn’t expected to play a heavy amount of minutes. However with his shooting ability and individual drive anything is possible, you certainly can’t count Thompson out.
The Memphis Grizzlies are on a nine-game winning streak, with this game against the Warriors being another test of their rise up the Western Conference table.
On the Grizzlies’ nine-game win streak, the Memphis Grizzlies have played efficiently on offence and hard on defence. Despite shooting just 33.2% from deep through their win streak, Memphis have converted on 54.4% of their two-point field goals.
The Golden State Warriors have the best interior defence in the NBA, so Memphis will need to be very deliberate around when they drive and when they shoot.

Desmond Bane cannot be guarded!!! pic.twitter.com/zyKzdLNH9c
— GRIZZ TIME •Memphis Grizzlies (@WillisMemphis) January 10, 2022
The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off of a fantastic win over the Los Angeles Lakers where Desmond Bane starred. Usually eyes are on Ja Morant, but with the Lakers’ focus on Memphis’ star guard it was Bane who capitalized.
Bane posted 23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals on 9 of 14 shooting from the floor in his last game. His 5 three-pointers were a game-changer and his efficiency opened up the Lakers defence for his teammates to succeed.
Bane will be tested once again by the Golden State Warriors. With a switch-happy defence and the league’s second-best three-point defence, Bane will need to show he can cope with better competition.
