The NFL’s Week 11 SNF broadcast features the perfect game to bet on with an AFC West battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers, a divisional matchup with two of the league’s top quarterbacks – KC’s mobile Patrick Mahomes and LA’s cannon-armed Justin Herbert – a challenge for both secondaries to neutralize these passing attacks.

Los Angeles has covered the spread in four of its last five games against the Chiefs, so we like them to do that again at home on Sunday night in Week 11, though this year they are .500 at SoFi Stadium so don’t count on them to win outright against a KC team that is on a three-game win streak behind a defense that ranks top-5 against the run but only 25th against the pass.

One key matchup that should be fun to watch will be between Chiefs’ pass-catching TE Travis Kelce who leads the league with 8 receiving TDs this season versus the Chargers’ star safety Derwin James who has the size (6/ 2” and 215 pounds) and the power to attempt to neutralize Kelce, so far with 85 tackles and 3 passes defended and a forced fumble with three sacks.

POINTS TOTAL: Under 51.5 (-110) at FanDuel

A big question going into this season was whether KC Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes could still be effective without deep threat WR Tyreek Hill, now in Miami, and so far the answer is a definite “Yes!” as he leads the league in several categories including passing yards (2,936) and passing TDs (25), now with former NY Giants WR Kadarius Toney to target, the two with a Week 10 TD.

Seven of Kansas City’s last eight road games have gone over the total points line so let’s see how these two teams typically score this season – the Chiefs’ offense averages the best in the league 30 points per game while the Chargers put 22.2 points on the scoreboard each time, that total of 52.2 over what the oddsmakers are predicting for this matchup (51.5) so that is our pick.

For bettors who believe this will become more of a defensive battle, it might be a good idea to research how effective each is against scoring, with Kansas City’s defense allowing 22.9 points per game and Los Angeles’ defense allowing 25.3 points per game, that total of 48.2 a bit under what this bet allows, with the under a better pick here if you believe in these defenses.

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a roll against AFC West opponents having won 26 of their last 30 games against them, so if you believe that trend will continue in this Week 11 divisional matchup bet $245 on the money line to win $100 if you are correct, whereas LA Chargers fans who believe this will be an underdog upset can bet $100 on the money line for a winning payout of $210.

Weather should not be a factor in this game, but injuries might be, so be sure to check both injury reports before you place any bets – right now the KC Chiefs have a half dozen players listed as questionable to play including three starting WRs while the LA Chargers have eight coach’s game time decisions including WRs Keenan Allen (hamstring), Mike Williams (ankle), and DeAndre Carter (ribs).

Keep in mind, Los Angeles is now 5-4 but they are still two games behind the Chiefs in the AFC West, so an underdog win here would give them a giant burst of upward momentum, a battle of wits between two talented head coaches – the Chiefs future Hall of Fame leader Andy Reid and the Chargers young phenom Brandon Staley – a key mid-season matchup worth betting on.
